Its fine as far as I am concerned! Never not loved watching F1. Its evolution and changes are as much part of the story as anything else, I would not want to change that. It makes every year different, and that is so much of the charm. I welcome change, it means I have more to read about :D

I think that F1 is widely acknowledged to be the highest level of international motorsport. The comparisons to Baseball are unfounded, the world series has no other nations in it. F1 is truly international. Nothing comes close.
 
Surely entertainment has got nothing to do with what it is the pinnacle though? It's the highest level, it's what (European at least) young kids aspire to be. Most won't grow up dreaming of being a Blancpain or World Endurance Championship driver. It's almost always either F1 or MotoGP, depending on how many wheels you like.

It's not the most entertaining of motor-racing of course, not by a distance, but it never has been. Never.
