You do realise media days are contractual, and not just something the teams ask the drivers to do as a favour?

So horner, newey and vettel were only there due to contractual obligation?

Even when hamilton does show up he often doesn't look happy - as I said, good luck to mercedes when he's getting podiums, destroying rosberg and tells them to stick their commitments. Contract or not he's going to do what he wants (which is be as far from the press as possible).

Hamilton has already told them to stick their commitments.

At McLaren he was contracted to about 70 media days. The Mercedes contract contains much much fewer. Nearer to Red Bull levels which are in single figures. Its one of the reasons he left. Its also one of the reasons Kimi left.

The truth imo is there can only be one reason why hamilton didn't take that award over button - and that's because hamilton couldn't be bothered to turn up and they wanted a show with all the big names present.

I'm not sure what your truth is, that it's racism? That button is infact the better driver and had a better season?

Both of those are ridiculous so why didn't hamilton get it? He even finished ahead on points this season.

I'm not sure what criteria has to be met to award best racing car of the year, but I wouldn't have given that award to the RB8.

Held every December at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane, the AUTOSPORT Awards are voted for by AUTOSPORT readers

It's a popularity contest, nothing more. Button is more popular with British fans than Lewis is. It has nothing to do with how good a driver they are, or who bothered to turn up.

Edit: Confirmed even more so by the fact that this is the fith time he has won it. He also got it in 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2011. The only time Hamilton has won it was 2007. Hamilton didn't even get it when he won the WDC, McNish got it that year!

I guess that answers my question.

Love how you know the finer details of everybody's contract :o

So, it was the BRDC Annual Awards this week as well. Lewis Hamilton was awarded the ERA Club Trophy, "Awarded to the British driver who, driving a British car, established the most meritorious performance of the year outside the UK".

Happier now, Hamilton fanboys?

:p

any particular performance? or just on the whole?

i mean.. clearly everyone is racist.

Do you actually disagree or just stirring the pot as you have a massive reputation for on here? If not, clear off?
Oh noes, I has a reputation.

Look, it was ridiculous to even claim that could be a possible reason for him not winning that award. How was it taken out of context? You said it, we quoted it, it was a silly silly suggestion. You're foolishly in love with him as is clear. I don't disagree that Button was the most deserving driver but there are other British drivers (outside of F1 too obviously) and not just the McLaren love-in.
