Autumn Budget 2022

Food Stamps
Energy Stamps

Instead of cash handouts for sky, weed and smokes.

Thinking about that wont work either as the Tory Scum will only twist the system so they can only be used at Tory donor shops and a layer of batty Eton boy bureaucracy in Whitehall to make it happen.

Disgusting that they kept triple lock while everyone else's taxes are going up. Disgusting.
Not really you can always work an extra job or overtime pensioners can't.

Remember one day if you are lucky you will be a pensioner.
Typical selfishness of the younger generation.

They could have setup some kind of means testing for the pensioner triple lock. This current situation means people who dont rely on their pension will just get an increase for no reason.

But as others have said the Tories likely didnt want to go down that way of thinking.

Means testing would be good. There’s thousands of pensioners who really do need the triple lock despite the few on here who seem to think none deserve it.

Mean testing pension is a terrible idea, it removes the incentive to save.

Plus the cost to run it out weighs the benefit

The 23% fuel duty increase in March is going to hurt if fuel prices stay around the same levels, going to keep the cost of everyday items up, not sure its the right time for that.
I've just been reading about this.

It's been sneaked out but its being said this is going to put 12p on every litre of petrol / diesel.

I'm surprised its not in the headlines.

Yes I don't recall hearing it in the budget? That would put diesel up to about £2.10 a litre around here at current pricing.
RIP

The problem is that most people, like me, will just stop spending on anything other than basic goods. The economy is going to be hammered. This definitely isn’t a budget for keeping businesses open.

I've just seen the 6 o'clock news to get an overview on which taxes are going up. I'm surprised that sin taxes didn't get mentioned i.e. cigarettes and alcohol. Sure I love my drink, but sin taxes would have been an opportunity for the gov't to claw back more of the deficit. I think it has been frozen for a few years now.

Notice I said pensions, not benefits or pension credit. If a pensioner is poor and needs help, they should get help like everyone else.

OK boomer?

It's almost like they're forgetting that people need money to spend it lol.

The amount of money that's going to be taken out of the economy in interest payments and bills is going to be absolutely astronomical
