Everyone is getting below inflation pay rises. We have a shortage of nurses already and they are getting below inflation pay rises, so real term pay cuts. So your argument isn't standing up to the merest of glances.

Hear hear!Pensioners aren't, which was the whole point of the discussion
Like I say, your pithy little retorts are just the parroting of simple soundbites to complex problems. Which is why you vote for parties like UKIP and Reform UK, as that's the level they engage you on.
That’s because they want two little cogs in their corporate machine and not one.
None of the mainstream parties care about families, all they care about is ‘the economy’. Stay at home parents aren’t good for the economy so they’ll disincentivise them as much as they can. The corporate machine is more important than peoples family lives.
Pubs are rubbish these days anyway. Overpriced and no atmosphere.

Do you feel that way about benefits, even if people choose to use them for beer, ciggies, sky etc?I go to the Picture House in Stafford. It was a very good cinema which closed in 1995 (which was a shame), then reopened in 1997 as the Picture House and is a pretty decent Spoons imo.
Back on topic, I was just saying that I still go out socialising 2-3 times a week based on a low(ish) wage and a utility bill that has shot up 2.5x of what it was last year. But I'm not going to be told by the press or Greta's vegan-eating cohort on what my money or energy schedule is.
Everybody in this thread, rich and poor, need to stand up to this.
I have voted Tory the last 4 elections, although ikip had it's purpose.Pensioners aren't, which was the whole point of the discussion

I'm going to Godskitchen next month. The gov't can try and stop me!
I'll still go out twice a week to Caffe Nero to see one friend and to Wetherspoon to see a group of friends which totals around £30/week out of my entertainment budget. I'm on £18k, so a low(ish) earner and my energy bill for a 1-bed flat is now £174/month instead of £74/month so I'm feeling the pain like everyone else. However, I'm bored of being told by the press on what I should be doing with my money.
I can go to cafes and pubs and so can you!
Glad they didn’t mess with pension tax relief
But, they said inflation was the enemy and did nothing to stem inflation.

The Bank of England were noticeably tardy with rate rises only starting some time after the American's. They did move ahead of the European Central Bank but they could have been a bit sharper. 3% is still light when compared with the Fed should be another half a percent.
