Awesome RGB LED Case Mod Tutorial - Cheap!!

There's a few sellers on ebay but they all appear to be in China. It'll be exactly the same product you will get from a UK seller and a bit cheaper. Just search for black RGB SMD5050 and it should find them. you want the 300 led per 5 meter, rather than the cheaper 150led per 5 meter.

The waterproof version has a gel coating that is useful for using the leds in areas it might get wet, like a kitchen. No real advantage for use in a PC case really. If there was a way to 'frost' the coating, it could help to diffuse the light, but I don't know how you could go about it. It's a little more expensive than the non waterproof.

I'm going to go for the black strip as I think it will match in with my black case interior. The white tends to stand out a bit. It's probably not going to be seen behind the window panel, but i'm a bit of a perfectionist . It'll also blend in better on the back of monitors, so will probably use some of the leftover strip for that.

Think thats enough lighting for one PC haha.

you can use RGB it has the support on the controller :) the 5050 150 LED per 5M are brighter then the 300 LEDs per 5M.. and trust me the ones i recommend at the start of the post are a steal and super bright... also if your looking to save power the 5050 kit i recommend will do that!

They are not brighter, they are both SMD5050. i have used both and they are the same brightness. You might have used the SMD3528 if you had some that weren't as bright. The only difference is the number of leds per meter.

The benefit of the 60/meter is that you're less likely to have noticeable breaks in the lighting that you can get with half the number of leds.

cut all the cables out of the molex connector, and follow the guide from the start. its pretty simple. you only need to solder 2 wires and connect the cables in the correct place on the molex :)

Ok, so take all the cables out of the Molex and leave the pins in, solder the cable from the controller onto the Molex and job done? I noticed that the colours from the Molex/fan connector are different from yours, are the black and red cable in the led controller when you cut it and those are the ones you solder directly?
