Awful gamerscore...

I've had my 360 since launch and I've got close to 34k in score. I love achievements and purposely going out to get the harder ones (like most of the Dead Rising ones), but it's never been the be-all and end-all for me. I've barely had an achievement in weeks as I've been playing COD4 online pretty much since I got it.

I do believe they can add to a lot to games though, and in some ways achievements are the best thing to happen to games for ages as they can really push you to play games in different ways - if you care about the achievements.

Pretty much my stance. If there is an achivement to get (mainly single player) like doing a level without shooting (COD3) I always think, sure, I'll have a go at that. Add the fact I don't really like replaying games, I've had the console since launch and you've got a 40k+ score.

If you're also partial to rentals some of kiddie platform games are also a lot of fun (Shrek was good for a couple of days).

Though I must admit after seeing quite a few friends rent Avatar I'm quite tempted to join the club!

I love the sense of achievement though, i dont think im better then anyone else because my gamerscore is higher, it does however add another level of competition, mine Nokkon and Abooie's race to 10k (i think it was 10) was funny, me and Nokkon battling and absuing each other at 4am in the morning over MSN
Yeah, that was awesome. That was a race to 10k and the achievements were brilliant. I remember swapping between 6 or 7 games constantly in a bid to get a few achievements from each. In the end I think I lost by 15gp.

I agree, I don't think I'm better because I have a higher score than other people, but I do like the challenge of trying to get achievements from games. They are achievements to accomplish that the games developers feel appropriate, so it's nice to complete the goals that you are challenged to by the games developer.
