He's bloody lucky that Verstappen had a DNF.

Verstappen was lucky that the FIA had let him swap out his tyres for fresh ones before the race, and that Lewis got blocked by Gasly at his pit stop. Otherwise Lewis was ahead all along.

Having been very unlucky to face a tyre failure, Max was lucky that Lewis made a blunder.

Verstappen was 4 seconds clear after they both had their stops and Perez was a distance clear too (despite a stop as slow as Hamilton). It wasn't Gasly who cost Hamilton the lead.

Its concerning but Baku is also a but of an odd track; be interesting to see what happens at circuits like Silverstone though where there were a number of tyre incidents last year

I was mostly surprised that Hamilton was there or thereabouts with Red Bull. Still so tight between Mercedes and Red Bull.

I think Bottas’ time at Mercedes is up… and he knows it.

Mixed emotions, celebrated like mad when Verstappen crashed out, but obviously gutted that Hamilton threw it away. I was expecting him to drop places from being too aggressive and making a mistake but not quite as bad as that

Now if you watch the Max tyre blow out you can clearly see something thrown up in the air just as his tyre gives up.

Couple that with the Red Bull pit wall telling the FIA that they had no prior warning of the failure this sort of makes sense???

He is good and we are lucky to have him. But he has an air of dickness about him.
