Hate to say it guys but even without Merc in the mix F1 is still too formuliac ... imagine competitive McLarens, Alpines etc. in the mix, we would then have want we all want to see, the top half of the grid properly racing.

Yep, the new regs have done nothing really, apart from swap Ferrari with Mercedes.

Ofcourse that was the real reason for them all along (to try and prevent one team's dominance for too long - and im not saying that is a bad thing/isn't necessary either). Without these massive aero changes, I suspect we would still have Merc up at the top.

Even as a Lewis fan, I quite like having a difference at the top/seeing Ferrari there, and it is interesting watching Merc's struggles as well (in a way).

I think unless there is a big incident, Red Bull will likely a take a 1-2 here. I don't think the small margin Leclerc eeked out yesterday in qualy will make any difference in the race when it comes to the RB's advantage on the straight with DRS.

That is fine by me as long as it's Checo ahead.

Hopefully there is some kind of incident and Checo is 30 seconds up the road, and Max way down and having to fight his way back to 2nd.

The drivers have started publicly complaining about porpoising and campaigning for change. I hope the collective powers of F1 will listen and do something soon.

I think Leclerc - Peréz - Sainz for the podium. RB aren't fast enough through half the track, and their advantage on the straights isn't big enough to swing it. We'll find out soon enough. Probably a solid chance that safety car(s) and/or red flags will mix things up though.

The thing is F1 is about innovation as well as racing so big rule changes have to happen from time to time otherwise some teams/ manufacturers might not bother and leave. We've not had a major change since 2014 so it was about time for regs to change.

Yea...NONE of teh commentators etc seem to be talking about this. These " biggest every reg changes in a season" has done absolutely NOTHING for actual interesting racing.
This is also though down to as many terrible tracks, Monaco and Baku etc are easy ones to not watch and do something else for the day to be honest, but F1 doesnt seem to want to face these realities.

Indeed.

I think the cars getting bigger has really hindered the racing, especially on street circuits. I mean Monaco was a bit silly. There just wasn't room for two of these boat cars to go around the corners together.

Baku has been one of the best tracks for action and excitement since it joined the calendar.

People are already forgetting the first few races this season, where the action at the front was brilliant. Sure the last two races haven't been all time classics, but they were Monaco and Barcelona, so to be expected.

Are you kidding, the cars can follow each other closer than ever now which is what everyone was asking for. What you're actually complaining about is that there always seems to be a couple of teams at the very top and then the others are not up to their standard. That's nothing to do with the rules. What else should they have done with the rules???

I don't agree. The cars are much more able to race closely and we've seen a fight for the lead at almost every race.

The cars are still too big which is particularly a problem at Monaco, but the big problem with dirty air has been dramatically reduced.

Interesting comments by Wolff. Something does need to be done though, either raise the ride heights or bring in a standard active suspension.

The trouble Merc have is that, this doesnt seem to be a massive problem across the board. The Red Bull doesnt seem to suffer from it to anywhere near the extent that the Merc does.

The FIA will likely just say "design a better car then. If Red Bull can do it, so can you".

Hamilton's onboard during practive did look utterly ridiculous/horrible, but i can't see them changing the rules for Merc, just because they designed a **** car.

Ferrari is worse than Merc here. KMag is reporting nerve problems. Even Red Bull are bouncing about like crazy. While some teams are worse than others, it's a problem across the grid. Not just porpoising but the inability to have the car soak the bumps.
