Baby killers, what's the fastest you've done in your car?

150 on the GPS across Germany. Indicated at about 155 I think but I trust the GPS result more. Felt too fast to be honest. 130 felt much safer. Strange.

I can't say I'm inclined to say what speeds I've hit in the UK. Suffice to say, not clever... Grown up a bit since then thankfully.

This thread is amusing yet quite suprising, I didn't realise so many in the motors forum were pansies?! :p

Nah I'm messing, although it is an eye opener to see what other petrol heads consider fast/dangerous/intimidating...

i can honestly say that i have some form of mental block at around 130. much beyond that and i dont feel totally happy

I think mine is to do with the size of the vehicle. The S3 is hardly a barge. I would imagine it would feel much safer in a bigger car. Not had the luxury of experiencing the difference though.

I can say of the few luxury class cars which i have been in at more than 130mph, they have all felt absolutely controlled and stable. My own S-Class as an example feels very similar at 150mph to how it does at 120-130mph. Big heavy car though.

On a busyish autobahn I first pulled to 120 then backed off because the cars in the lanes next to we started whizzing backwards far too quickly for my liking, sat at around 110 for a while till my head adjusted then pushed on to 148 for a bit but cars infront meant I had to slow down / couldn't readline.

Much like yourself anything over 110 - 120 and i feel the extra level of concentration isn't worth the extra speed.

In my old golf 1.4 Ryder (yea baby), if you hit 100 everything went really quiet, it's as if everything was vibrating so much that it just cancelled it all out, was quite hilarious showing passengers what I meant :D

The speedo on the Manta runs out at 130 and it was still pulling, it's only 1mph out at 90 indicated acording to the sat nav. I pansied out out after a while as I was on the m74 out of glasgow and had only picked it up 30 mins before hand.

its the rate that the road ahead is rushing towards you that im not keen on.

i admit that ive been there and done it a few, its like seeing how far you can lean back on your chair i suppose, but once its past 130 you feel so much more alert that youre practically paranoid about the risks that i want to back out.

kph etc obv

Fiddled with 1098s , 189 indicated , front straight at Almeria , missed the braking point , gravel everywhere , change of leathers needed :D

In excess of 160mph (on private roads of course). On the autobahns in germany I've sat at 140 during the wee hours of the morning which was quite surreal.

On bikes it's so easy to hit over 130 without even breaking a sweat - most cars (bar a handful) I've been in, need some work to get to impressive speeds (i.e. even "hot" BMWs and Audis).
