People cooking bacon in the microwave - WTF?!

Wee bit of oil in a pan, slap 2 slices of bacon on and fry till the fat is crispy. Get a roll with a wee bit of butter, place cooked bacon on top and add some tomato sauce.

Job's a good 'un.
 
I microwave mines, I even have a plastic/ridged plate which is specifically designed for the job! produces nice crispy bacon < 1 min!
 
Righto, grill is on, ready for the bacon (seems we have an excess of streaky bacon so that's on the cards).

I'm so disgusted at the idea, I'm going to put a slice in the microwave to see what the fuss is about. I'm skeptical.
 
Meh, didn't go too badly. Top is microwave where I just lay it on a plate (1min 30ish) bottom is grilled generally how I like it. Sometimes I have it grilled a little longer, but still.

I have to say though, the bacon was a little bit tough when microwaved. Maybe it was done for too long, but if I grilled it to look that cooked it wouldn't be tough/chewy like the microwave one was.
 
I would probably prefer the top slice. I like it crisy. Though you can get the same effect from grilling if you leave it in longer.

Exactly. Quite often I'd cook it a bit more but I was hungry. Grilled to that level, it's great, but the microwaved version became tough.

I do admit though, I didn't expect it to crisp up the fat like it did. That impressed me.

cooking - i did microwave it one one of those heat up pans when i was younger and STUPID. frying is the only way to go, ive never grilled out
 
I cook 3 rashers every day for 6 minutes @ 850w and they usually come out pretty good. Better to keep opening the door to check and put them in for longer if needed though.
 
To those that think its nice from microwave do try it a different way as really are wasting ur money on bacon if its not cooked properly.

All microwaves vary. If you prefer yours well done do it for longer. The water and fat that oozed out would happen if you fried it aswell..
