Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

Silly question regards using KERS off the grid - does that mean on the formation lap they actually charge it ready to use off the line? Or is it charged before they leave the pits?

And you can only use it once youve hit 60mph which obviously is nothing in a F1 car...

ps3ud0

Hamilton unsure on his strategy even though he should be keeping his mouth shut like Jenson did.

There's no point them keeping their mouths shut anymore, in a few hours the FIA will release the weights and everyone knows everyone elses fuel loads...

Does seem like he might not be terribly light though, if that's the case then the McLaren is improving impressively quickly...

Well im not too supprised at the all toyota front row (not in a bad way, im really impressed at how close the teams are and its really good different teams are semi-dominating at different tracks), goes to show testing there is sort of worth it.

Moneys on Hamilton is rather light compaired to those around him....

I think most the paddock knows piquets f1 carrer is almost over by now, especially after another average performance compaired to his team mate alonso.

I recon it'll be a toyota 1-2 tomorrow, but glock may have the measure on trulli as hes generally looked to have better race's over the last year or so....

Well they only have one new part he said. Maybe Hamilton has found the right setup or their best suited at this circuit as the cooling seems to be pretty thought out. Either way, its clear they are suffering with having young driver not experienced in developing a car but its good to see them back in the mix.

Should be an interesting first corner. British Bahrain battle anyone?

Well for that to be the case then the dry race in oz was flattering to the brawns. If oz was a true reflection of Brawn pace I expect them to be well in the lead come the 2nd pitstop.

So either the brawn isn't as fast as everyone reckons or the toyota is light.

Ahh we'll find out soon enough when the weights are published ;)

I think this is where Brawns lack of testing starts to become apparent, as we saw last weekend in the dry quali, the brawns appear to be fast but dont wuite have the setups completally down (they were struggling with understeer in the wet) and i sort of think that they may have a similar sort of situation with the stop start nature of this track..... (then again they might just be heavy)

Is it me or is the least changed car from Melbourne on the grid tomorrow going to be the Ferrari?

Are they just taking ages to do anything, I know an update is due next race, but everyone else is getting one then too - so unlikely it will change anything relatively. One has to ask, what are they playing at apart from being undecided about KERS and everything else!

I don't really like the Bahrain track. Throughout the lap you barely ever see any spectators! all you see is massive runoffs :(

Yeah the legard pointed out there's about 5000 people at quali (compaired to the 60000 who went to silverstone last year just for quali), but most of the ruling elite of the country turned out which is what bernie wants :( (power trip fantasies?)

I dont really like the track either, looks rubbish with all the astro turf painted sand colour instead of green, so its really hard to see the track propperly

General update due next race. Double decker diffuser due mid year apparently.

They have done very few updates compared to some teams. Even Williams have changed a few large components. The rear wing end plates to start with - gone for Red Bull style giant ones. Looks like they are almost integrating them into the diffuser.

BMW's are still pretty poor!

Very interesting Quali!

I'd like to speculate, but I'll wait for the weights to be published, we can then see the real picture..

A good show, loved the Toyota's taking 1 and 2, this season is providing the most entertainment in a long while!

Same. I hate watching this GP as you can't really see where the track is and the runoffs are. Sand coloured astro turf such a good idea, whoever came up with that. (!)

Exceedingly so. Think Legard mentioned that BMW put all their eggs into the KERS basket and it isn't working. Not much success for KERS cars so far this year and EJ quite right in thinking its a waste of time. I wonder if le FIA will back down on compulsory KERS for 2010?
