Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

My bad guys on not making a thread with my exams coming and my dt project due in next week i have totally forgot to make a new thread. So could someone else make the threads for a few weeks.

As a doctor at Silverstone myself, I dont think his skills in treating an injured F1 driver will be related in any way to him sending home a sickle cell patient (who subsequently died).

Seems like the FIA made a good decision for a change :)
In practical terms, would F1 teams tend to rely on local doctors or have their own medical team and supplies available? I realise that they are unlikely to cart a complete operating theatre around with them but I would have thought that they would have some people who they knew and trusted on hand.

Generally the FIA has its own doctors that travel to all the races which accounts for about 12-15 individuals. Obviously Prof. Watkins heads this lineup. Then the FIA invites local doctors from varying specialities to attend a Grand Prix (so for Silverstone I get invited because I have been going for several years etc), to make a total of about 100 doctors at each event.

I am sure the teams have their own medical specialists at hand but they don't get involved in the immediate treatment of drivers on the track after accidents.

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says that doubts about the British Grand Prix's future that have emerged because of a legal spat are no big surprise to him

Not really about Bahrain, but it hasn't been posted in the F1 threads yet I don't think ...

Why is it that we in the UK can't host a proper race, with world-class facilities without "issues" :(

Donnington has made a loss for the last 3 years and have been seeking investment. I doubt they could get anywhere near the richer circuit owners in terms of facilities, especially with so little time left.

The Renault guy in the middle (of five) in picture #8 looks pregnant

That's Pat Simmons their technical director lol.

Are there still predictions of sandstorms over the weekend? if that happens it could pose a bit of a problem!

Yeah, don't want any more in Briatore's vagina.

Just a thought, why are the mechanics never covered in oil? Far too clean to be working on cars :D

For much the same reason that the Americans can't (or wont) - MONEY!

Bernie Ecclestone can get more money and better facilities in other countries around the world that are willing to spend a fortune for the privilege.

I believe that there are questions over F1 in France and there were in Belgium a few years ago - it is all about money.

I'm not saying BE is not at fault, but you would think that given how RB, Brawn, Williams, McLaren, Renault, Force India are all located in the UK (that's more than half the grid) the UK should be able to host a good race and should get some government support.

So yeah, should be a dry race! (dry country, in a desert...) Predictions though, urm this is Piquets last race! (that will be Flavos shouting moment this week)

Also Red Bull will be in the mix the "deffuser 3" (with renult and mclaren being abit behind for testing purposes)

urmmmm also an engin blow out as well should be on the cards :D (probably a Ferrari)

I'm sorry but the government shouldn't support it. If a packed out silverstone cannot make enough money hosting a race while paying fee's then they shouldn't hold it here and let bernie go screw someone else.

Besides I have gone to spain for years for a week, including hotel and flights and it's still cheaper than a grandstand seat at silverstone and the women are much more pleasurable on the eye. I can also get in with ease.

Screw silverstone or donnington.

Many British people work within F1, more than half the teams are located within the UK ... if the Government can fund the Olympics (at a huge cost), give some money to the likes of the FA ... then I'm sure that the government should be able to spare some cash for the F1 GP.

I'm not saying that this money should not come without strings though; if it was the government kicking up a fuss over BE taking a 50% cut of revenue it would have far larger "clout" and would force change much quicker.
