Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

We ought to have a reasonably good showing, the R29 should be the third fastest car this weekend (behind Brawn and Red Bull).

Faster than Toyota, thats a good improvement

Looking forward to a dry race, hopefully no safety cars, just to see the outright pace of everyone without anything mixing it up

I very much doubt the government will put any money into F1, especially in the current climate...

surely they shouldnt have to when half of the teams are based in the UK anyway, it would be crazy for them not to want a british race?
surely they have enough clout to push b£rni£ into keeping an english gp

practice starts in a few minutes btw

You know, putting '£'s in place of 'e's in BE's name is pretty much on the same level of 'wit' as those who stick a $ sign in Microsoft's name - can't you come up with something better?

Oh, but of course....silly me. I'm on OcUK, where Bernie Ecclestone is known to be akin to Satan. My bad, I'll leave you to your scheduled BernieBashing™.

Many British people work within F1, more than half the teams are located within the UK ... if the Government can fund the Olympics (at a huge cost), give some money to the likes of the FA ... then I'm sure that the government should be able to spare some cash for the F1 GP.
I really can't see the British Government putting money into a British GP for at least a couple of reasons:
1. It isn't a vote winner in the way that football every weekend is (the Olympics are going to lose us a fortune - 100% vanity)
2. It doesn't exactly fit with their desire to establish "green" credentials
I'm not saying that this money should not come without strings though; if it was the government kicking up a fuss over BE taking a 50% cut of revenue it would have far larger "clout" and would force change much quicker.
Somehow, I really can't see Bernie buckling under the pressure of Brown, can you? ;)

The BBC On-line coverage - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8015765.stm - is good to watch / listen to, I liked the shot of Massa "getting into the zone". Well done the Beeb :)

it wasnt bernie bashing but he does care a little to much about money, i cant believe he even considered dropping spa :S

That onboard camera from Rosberg looked fantastic, a small change in position and it looks far better. :)

Edit: Actually, where would it have been mounted? It wasn't the T-cam, looked more like what you'd expect the driver to be seeing (a bit higher though).

I know it is meaningless at this stage, but McLaren are looking good :)

What are those fan/brake heaters/blowers placed on the front wings when the cars are in the pits

In simple terms, their leaf blowers with pipes on them that blow cool air through the brake cooling ducts to cool the brakes when they stop, they are just put on the front wings as its a convinient surface to place them so they dont have to be held.

Lewis finished 1st (with low fuel possibly) BMW's 2nd and 3rd and Jenson 5th (after struggling with upshifting)

Ferrari's a bit closer to the front, but with Red Bull's either struggling or doing different tactics for the warm up, Ferrari may not be in the top ten again

Could be completely misleading though so who knows lol
