Bahrain GP Cancelled

He's most likely done that because the F1 race was one of the King of Bahrain's jollies and he made the government pay for it. I doubt he'll be in power much longer to pay for anything soon.

You can imagine how it'd look if Ecclestone starts moaning at the Bahrainis they owe him millions in a few months time when all this has died down and there is probably a new regime in place.

They could quite easily tack it on before or after Abu Dhabi, seeing as they are round the corner from each other (~350km as the crow flies).

Unless you have all the teams have seperate freight shipments to both races (which is asking a lot given the budget constraints), Im not sure which is worse (India >>>Abu Dhabi or AD to Brazil)

I would have thought the reaoning for allowing two weeks between each race is that they need majority of a week to get all the freight to the next continent - puting a race right in the middle of either allows little to no lee-way if something goes wrong

I can see that being even more costly than usual - and things possibly going wrong just because of the lack of time available between races.

Surely the most likely outcome is that it'll just be cancelled, with no replacement. Adding in another race at the end of the season just causes hassle when the schedule is already set and for what?

60,000 on the streets last night .

Remember that Bahrain is only the size of the Isle Of Wight!

Its a shame that the major news networks only seem to be able to cover one middle east contry at a time. As far as any BBC viewer is aware Egypt is back to normal and all the protests in Bahrain have stopped, as Libya has taken centre stage.
