Bahrain Grand Prix 2013, Sakhir - Race 4/19

Sky F1: Midweek report

Should F1 have gone to Bahrain? Was Jenson Button right to complain about Sergio Perez's driving? Is F1 racing becoming too artificial? Has DRS turned out to be a force for good or bad? And just why is it taking the stewards so long to make decisions this season?

To discuss these issues, and plenty more!, The Times' Motor Racing correspondent Kevin Eason and former Williams CEO Adam Parr join Anna Woolhouse in the F1 Midweek Report Studio.

Team mate wars for Bahrain is up @ planetf1. Always enjoy reading these.

It is quotes such as these that keep me reading it:

Quotes of the Race Weekend
Williams development driver Susie Wolff in her role as BBC 5 live analyst: "It's so much psychological. There are problems at Red Bull and suddenly Mark Webber is best friends with Alonso. Mark is showing his alliances there and playing with Vettel's head a little bit."

Or maybe it's the fact that Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso have been friends ever since they were at Benetton together in 2001 (see pics of the car launch in St Peters Square, Venice).

:D

Out of interest how much are you paying, per person and what sessions/days does this include?

We're just flying in for the race - arriving in Nice on the Saturday, staying overnight and then flying back Sunday night. The Sunday night flight should be good as a few of my colleagues have done it before and it is normally packed full of F1 team members. Yes, they do fly EasyJet..!

We're in Tribune O, and paid just under £400 for each ticket. The whole weekend, excluding food, is costing us around £600 a head - just me and the other half.

I requested that we're quite high up, as I want the elevation to take photos that won't be cluttered by the fencing. The change of direction on that chicane is something I'm really looking forward to! The other reason for being high is that you can turn around and look right out over the marina and the bay.

We did Istanbul a couple of years ago (shameless Flickr plug, but you can hopefully see why I want to get above shooting through the fence - http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregkingston/sets/72157626707009580/ ) - spent 8 days there and it was pretty much the same price as 2 days for Monaco. However, I've always wanted to see Monaco and really wanted to see (and hear) the V8s race there before they disappear.

I think he should've apologised to Button.
Then in the next race, raced him just as hard. And then apologise again.
And if he manages to beat Button, he should apologise for beating him.

I think Button was perhaps expecting McLaren to keep Perez on a leash, as Button is the No.1 driver. But McLaren, for whatever reason, don't seem to want to do this.

Jenson Is good but not great. Perez should push him hard and should be McLarens no1

lololololol.

Jenson isn't as good as a Vettel, Alonso or Hamilton, but he's better than Perez currently. Saying he should be number 1 when he's just walked through the door at McLaren is ludicrous.

McLaren don't favour any driver early in a season anyway so the perception of a No1 driver in the team is a moot point. Jenson appears to be the better of the two though right now. Perez seems to have too much to prove, a typical trait of any young driver.
