What kind of fan just watch for one driver? Obviously F1 isn't in a great place at the moment, and I've no problem with having a favourite, but surely no F1 fan just watches for a single driver, and turns off if they don't look like winning!

We're not watching for one driver, but this season is going to be between Hamilton and Vettel. One of them is starting so far back that statisitcally he hasn't got a chance of finishing on the podium (this race has NEVER had someone finish on the podium who didn't start in the top 4 grid places).

Verstappen who normally provides some pressure at the front also starts at the back of the race.

Last week proved that the rest of the midfield cannot overtake eachother, so we're lined up for a processional, boring race.

Um...

2004 says hi. Top 4 in qually - Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Juan Montoya, Ralf Schumacher. Podium - Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Jenson Button. 2005 chimes in - Kimi qualified 9th, finished 3rd. 2006 - Kimi started at the back, finished 3rd. 2012 - Romain Grosjean started 7th, finished 3rd. 2013 - Kimi and Grosjean again, qualified 9th and 11th, finished 2nd and 3rd.

did it annoy anyone else in quali when they have their times up, they did not stop on their lap time but went a second or two past and you did not know their time for a few seconds when they updated? i kept thinking people had gone slower as the clock didst stop when they crossed the line

I'll just wait for the highlights to show for the race. I'm really not excited about this one, or F1 in general at the moment to be fair. I've found that I'm watching out of habit more than anything.
Its supposed to be a really nice day tomorrow and i'd rather spend the day out up in the hills than sit in and watch this, I'm not even going to avoid the results.

Snap.
Definitely a habit. Annoyed I don't just not bother. Usually watch in an evening in bed where I have nothing to do.
Never live anymore just in case I want to skip through. Highlights aren't so bad as at least stuff is always happening

Shame the grid wasn't mixed up as it could have been.
At least with Hamilton and verstappen of position could be some action. Not so much if its bottas lol.

I miss rosberg!

They should have given it to a promising driver on a 1 year contract, and told Rici it was his if wanted it. Bottas had never shown enough promise to deliver, and - IMO - he's proved what I said about him right since.
I still believe that Rosberg was immensely disrespectful to Mercedes, Toto and the other drivers on the grid when he decided to call it a day at such short notice. IMO Hulkenberg would have been a shoe-in at Mercedes being German, and called Nico. But thinking there was no chance of a seat anywhere at a works team he signed up to Renault on a three year deal. Had Rosberg let anyone know he planned to retire if he won the championship the grid would likely look very different right now.

It'll be interesting to see how well Lewis will do this afternoon, particularly how well their pitstop strategy goes. I certainly hope he wins, otherwise, and it's obviously early days, but I'm not sure if this will pretty much determine if Vettel will win the championship,

Not expecting much between lack of overtaking and Merc designed to be out front.

**** the F1 YouTube channel. I went on this morning to watch the quali highlights and the thumbnail for the video was a photo of the top 3 drivers with massive white writing.

Well played

Gosh, that was intelligent of them  You'd have thought they'd have the sense to not do that, but then F1 never has gotten to grips with 'new media'.

Aaaah! American bovine supplied growth product!

Got to say the Billy Monger bit was good. Wonder if he could cope with the halo? Toto did bring up an interesting question though, can they see up Eau Rouge with the Halo?
