He drove over someone's wheel which turned the car almost 90 degrees.

He darted right and clipped his rear wheel on the front wheel of another car. The frame by frame analysis suggests he may have been avoiding debris. It was quite a hectic start.

I'm of course glad he's ok. But I've always seen Grosjean a bit like Maldonado. Regular mistakes. Wasn't this another Grosjean mistake? I think never getting back in an F1 car again would be the best thing he could do for his own safety.

So they've got till 6:15ish I guess to get the full race in, 4 hour window apparently or it'll be shortened.

It's clear from the replays that, as a result of the angle of impact, the nose dug into the barrier and this ripped the front and safety cell off the car.
As Brundle intimated earlier when they were replacing the barrier with concrete blocks, these are almost better as, whilst they don't absorb any impact, they also can't be easily penetrated.
I wouldn't be surprised if changes come from this requiring all 'naked' barriers to be covered with tyres or Tec-Pro or such like.

All joking aside, I will have a beer tonight and congratulate Grosjean able to walk on his own two feet from that.
Makes sense. I know it’s potent stuff but that was a long time to burn. I counted he was in it for about 30 seconds!

I wonder if that's the last we'll see of Grosjean in F1? Can't see that he's going to be in the car next weekend.
With all of the excessive safety regulations they've brought into F1 that in some cases has had an adverse affect on the racing all this shows is that no matter how far you go you just can't stop freak accidents in an inherently dangerous sport. The car snapped like a twig.
