Cool, totally looking forward to this log. It will be incredibly interesting to see where you can get with a new approach!

Thanks im a bit over motivated at the moment im sitting here with a stupid grin. Reading stronglifts and drinking two pints of milk and also getting ready to watch pumping iron:p
I really do hope i can do well and oneday look back on my first post in this log and be happy in the progress i made.

LOL! That's not very helpful! :D

But I would say, Bakes, ignore that GOMAD stuff (the SL website seems to be a proponent!)

With your current weight and activity levels I reckon you can bulk just fine on like, 3300 calories or something. It's probably a good idea to start getting an idea of how much you're eating, A, to make sure you are in surplus, but B, to make sure you are in a sensible surplus that doesn't take you on the journey described in the train journey above!

SS will help to no end. I pretty much started on it, went from pretty much benching the bar to 100kg now. Been weight training for about a year and a half properly, as in not faffing about and actually going every day.

Gains to be had. That 60kg, will fly up before you know it.

Thanks, ive just got off stronglifts been reading it all day. I looked at his guides on doing the required exercises and i was suprised at some of the techniques i didnt do when performing the exercises. Like Bent over rows, ive never done them that bent over before its almost like the deadlift postion when picking up the bar.

I would seriously love to be able to bench 5x5 my 1 max rep of 70, you may laugh but that will be a mountain of an achievemnt, something that ive been stuck at for a very long time as you know.

You will be there soon enough, when you first mentioned that you had stalled for two years I assumed your bench had to have been easily 110kg+, with a bit of structure and consistency that 70kg will be well in your sights in no time.

Stalling at 110kg+ i wouldnt mind:D

Cant believe that i will be squatting 3x a week and benching 2x a week its gonna be very interesting.

Just got back from my first stronglift session. I walked in with no ego trying to lift too heavy too early like the program recommended as im expected to increase the weight every session. I practiced the day before on my form infront of the mirror and pretending my samurai sword was the olly bar.
I squeezed my ass at the top on my squats, it feels good i can tell you now nothing will be entering or leaving my ass when its squeezed. My chest was sticking out my shoulder blades pulled back on my benchpress.
For the BB Rows i pilled two 20 plates on each other so i could get the full motion on my rows using 10" plates.

Squat:
60Kg

BarBell BenchPress:
25Kg

BarBell Rows:
40Kg

I did find it pretty easy but i knew it was gonna be at first, but every sessions will get a little bit harder with the compulsory weight increases:)
I did enjoy BarBell Rows, never done them like that before.

I'll be watching this thread with interest as I'm also going to be starting a 5x5 program this week and am nearly the same height and weight but a little skinnier at 6' 2" and 85kg.

I'll start my own training log so as not to hijack yours though. :D

My first session is going to be:
Deadlifts
Bent Over Rows
Barbell Curls

Personally I'd put your starting numbers up.

You can squat 110kg and bench 60kgs.

Surely you can squat 70-80 for 5 reps? and bench 40 for 5 reps also?

Yes, ego should be left at the door. But it should never be 'easy'.
