Baldur's Gate

I think agility affects attack speed while dex affects accuracy. Could be wrong though. I always prioritize strength, vitality, intelligence and agility when playing as a paladin with a few points in dexterity to be sure.

I think high dex affects weapon speed, but the bonus from weapon specialization is bigger.

Weapon speed has no relationship with number of attacks per round. It's just how early per round your attacks occur. A wep speed of 1 is almost at the start of the round, a wep speed of 10 is a whole six seconds later at the end of the round. If you have multiple attacks per round, each attack is timed as if it was a mini round.

Eg, with 3 APR and wep speed 1 you attack after:

0 seconds
2 seconds
4 seconds

with 3 APR and wep speed 10 you attack after:
2 seconds
4 seconds
6 seconds

So with lots of attacks per round (Monks with whirlwind attack!!) wep speed makes little difference...

/takes off robe and wizard hat ;)

Im only like an hour in just outside the castle and my monk is getting killed in like 2 hits, whats up with that.

Edit: Infact that goes for my whole team they die like in 2-3 hits.

Have you stumbled across a high level party of adventurers? I did that early on and the only solution was to run away and live to fight another day.

Bakes, BG1 is a very unforgiving game early on. Because it follows D&D rules, your 1st level characters are silly weak, especially if they're not high hit point classes. It's open world, you can go anywhere, and it doesn't hold your hand and coddle you. You can easily run into high level mob and npc parties that will rip you to shreds.

Other thing to remember early on is that missile weapons are your friend. Run, turn shoot, run.

The third thing is that BG1 characters will only be about lvl 7 by the time BG1 is over. At that stage monks are only starting to get going. Very tough character to choose for your first play through BG1. (In BG2, your characters start at around lvl 7, as it's supposed to follow on directly from the 1st game).

With such low HP at the begging, lots of resting is vital if you run out of potions. and if your having extra difficulty then turn the difficulty down for that battle and then turn it up afterwards.

Just remember to turn it back up, or in a few hours you ll be annoyed at how it suddenly got a lot easier ;) Its happen to me a few times before.

Ok cheers, im just finding it funny at having 10hp:p But soon i will be unstoppable mwhahahahahhaha!

Im still stuck, my part keeps dieing how do i revive them?
Also the only way i seem to heal my party is resting cause ive ran out of potions. Surely baldurs gate aint gonna be like that, fight, rest then repeat?

I dont think resting replenishes health... or at least not much.

You need a healer!

You could play BG 'fight, rest and repeat' but you have to remember this isnt wow or any other stupidly easy game, its an RPG.

There's an option in the gameplay menu to rest until your party is healed, very handy! As for reviving fallen party members, you'll need to find a priest until such point as one of your characters learns the raise dead spell.

Im not that far in the game to have a healer.
Also playing fight, rest and repeat, is the only way to play it so far.
Enjoying it though, ive only played for a couple hours so far. So i cant judge it yet.

BG1 right? You get a healer (Jaheira - Druid) at the Friendly Arm Inn, the first place you are meant to visit. I always get her partner killed off because hes useless.
