Ballistix 2GB DDR2 -5300 Timings

at the end of the day the 5300 stuff will easy clock as good as the 6400 stuff .good thing about the Ballistix PC2 5300 is its cheaper and has better timings at
CAS 3-3-3-12 where as the Ballistix 6400 is CAS 4-4-4-12

You cannot be looking very hard then obviously i wouldnt post here
and recommend that people buy from ocuk.

I've found PC5300 Ballistix Cas 4 RAM for that price. Although confusingly the description says Cas 3 later on, Crucial have that particular kit listed as CL4.

Oh-Oh!

They are rated to 2.3V I believe. Crucial don't seem bothered as I actually RMA'd a set I'd put 2.5V through (by accident) and I told them as I actually wanted to know what the warranty position was and the guy said he didn't think it woul dbe the voltage anyway, and to send them back as the tech people would want to see them. Can you see why I bang on about Crucial's RMA service all the time now?

If they are VERY hot (can't touch them) then some active cooling may be in order to lengthen their life, but as most of us rotate kit inside a 12-18 month period, it probably isn't a problem for us, but rather for the folks we sell them to. Caveat emptor.

I
no they are rated at 2.2V

i use them at 2.2v 24/7 ,just put 2.4 to do the "bench"- 5 min :)

like the C2D are rated at max vcore at 1.35V by Intel, and I´m running it at 1.47V,so i think using more voltages in any hardware could damage it , but i think an increase in 10% of rated voltage is not critical

so when you do overclocking or overvolting you do it at your own risk
( I assume my risks )

anyway some guys at XS ( in extreme bandwith section) are giving their ram Vdimms of 3.1/ 3.2V,in order to do extreme benchs, and that I think is pushing it to the limits :)

some guys are hiting values of 700mhz on DDR2 :D

Hi
the high speeds that i where running where tested with memtest86 i ran it for 12 hours with no problems .but every now and then i was getting a lock up on the pc .most of the time it was doing it was when i where doing video stuff . and some of my web pages had bits missing like my home page and ebay . so i did a test with memtest ( windows one ) then i got that error so i put my ram back at stock and i still get it .
