ballistix dying

i was going to get some not so long ago - until i saw that rather large thread here about the failure rate...........

unlucky mate :(

Funnily enough I had a stick of Ballistix dying on me a week ago, bought it in september 2004 though.

E-mail sent to Crucial last week but still no reply, reminder sent yesterday :(

my sis's PC3200 Dual channel kits died 2 months ago after less than a year of normal use without any OCing, bad quality rams :(

she got in touch with Crucial and they sent replacments within a few days (and they sent her PC4000s instead of PC3200s too), nice RMA service from Crucial back there(or is it just better towards girls?) :)

Yeah i'm currently RMA'in my 2nd set. People on XS say theyve decided to stop making the 1Gb sticks now. Gonna get some OCZ instead I think.

looks like they have, on crucial site no 2gb sets to buy anymore.
after my third set dying last week, they gave a choice of refund or repacement, took refund :)
now with gskill hz and hopefully no more problem for now

I have a feeling my 2nd set is starting to go, getting a few sudden blue screens when playing bf2, prime not passing more than hour or so. . .
Had to up the voltage to 2.9v (which is not good)
This time round I think I might go for the refund option if they start to get worse. I only got this replacement set back just before Christmas.

Anyone recommend another 2gig kit?

Am I right in saying that you got £260 for the refund?

i remember that, got my last set a week before you. seems like you set deff going bad.
thought i'll have to fight my case when i phoned them but they offered the options first ,had to take refund option as 3 sets in 2 ish months aint good.
got full refund £260 and got gskill 4000hz 2gb.

Just arranged for a rma on my second set of Ballistix. They did not want to give me a refund at first, they wanted to give me another set
Still after a bit of fighting on the phone they decided to give me refund :D
Now I have to make my mind up with what to replace them with. . .

Im thinking of getting some G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX

I had a 1Gb stick fail last week, created the RMA, posted on tuesday and the replacements were out for delivery today but now at the PO awaiting collection. I have to say the support experience for me has been superb.

Is it superb because they do it so often? Pratice makes perfect, or so that say ;)

Did you purchase the memory direct from Crucial? I bought from OcUK and Crucial said I could not get a refund unless bought direct.

Hi,

I had a set of 1GB (2x512) Ballistix PC3200 fail on me last weekend. Had been having some randon problems on my P4 machine for a month approx, so I started testing the system in various ways (Prime95, Super PI etc) and didn't find any errors, then when I went out I popped in the Memtest Floppy and when I returned I was suprised to see a Memtest screen full of *red* errors?

How come Prime95 Blend test could run for 12 hours + and be fine, then memest shows up errors within a few minutes??

Anyway I got deeply into trouble-shooting mode, tested the sticks seperately, and also testing different slots. In the end I ran over to me mates *Big.Dave* and popped the two sticks into his A64 system and same thing, errors in memtest, but nothing in prime95?

Cut a long story short, I phoned the freephone number @ crucial and spoke to a nice lady who gave me an RMA number and they will be sending me some new sticks :)

I'm a big fan of Crucial Memory, was running those sticks for 15 months solid (DDR400 2-2-2-6), not overclocked and only using 2.7vDimm, been perfect all that time so not sure what happened to them?

Phone them - I found that it was quite easy to get through and they gave me an RMA number over the phone. Sent the memory off on the same day and got the replacements two days later (did buy direct from them though)
