Got to be a joke surely. People can't really think you can just open an account by giving a name and email address and they'll just believe you.

It's pretty terrible really because it traps homeless people, can't open a bank account to get benefits because they don't have a fixed address or passport.

Just open a bitcoin wallet op, no ID required.

A Bitcoin wallet isn't much use if he wants the account for day to day use.

I opened a halifax account about a decade ago and they never asked me for ID and never have since.
with Lloyds I had to take my passport to a local branch though.

both were online applications, I had halifax before lloyds

halifax let me :p they did their own checks somehow though, Lloyds tried but still made me bring a passport to them.

Unfortunately with no bank account the OP is unable to access and pay for a time machine and go back a decade.

they probably still try to verify your Identity on their own though, and surely Halifax should have asked me for ID at some point in the law changed.

even bitcoin sites wanted scans of my passport at some point, trading212 the same

I dont mind showing my Id


I'd just prefer to go in to a branch with my drivers license and just fill in a form rather than photograph it and have to scan my face online.

you can likely just goto a branch and say you want to open a bank account, you don't know what the intranet is or how it works
