Bars/Pubs/Things to do in Edinburgh.

A traditional Scottish breakfast with white pudding if possible. There are few on that site that Ive looked at which seem to do a hearty breakfast though.

You also need Fruit Pudding, Haggis, Square Sausage and Tattie Scones!

mmmm, yummy!

Ooft, the whitepudding for breakfast has thrown me. That's 'normally' considered an evening dish.

Are you staying in a hotel? City centre?

Oh really? I thought white pudding was the same as black pudding down here and served with breakfast. Happy to go with black if thats how you roll :p

Im staying at Hotel Indigo which is just off Princess Street I believe.

Yeah, I'm sure you'd find somewhere that would do white for breakfast but the norm would be black. White could be offered as a vegetarian option. Blackpudding rolls are the breakfast for legends!

Yes that's on York Place (which turns into George Street further along the same street), I used to work across from Indigo. Go down broughton street for a walk, you'll see it on the map and you'll find something good down the hill. The delicatessen is on that list I believe. :)

Any restaurant recommendations? The wife was meant to book Ondine for Thursday but forgot and now its full! I've had a look at Trip Advisor and could pick somewhere at random but would prefer to know Im going somewhere half decent at least.

Had a good day out, cheers for the suggestions.

Went to the Zoo, then back into town and I dragged her straight into the Guildford Arms which I loved. Very much my type of pub. After that we had a walk (and got lost) to Brewdog which was cool. Much smaller than the one in Glasgow but the beer was good (as expected). After that we found ourselves in Deacon Brodies Tavern. It was freezing, and a pub was there. Then we went up to The Villager for cocktails before going to the Balmoral for dinner (One Balmoral). Then after dinner upstairs to the cocktail bar in the hotel and then got the last train home.

A good day out!

I'd highly recommend the Guildford Arms & she really liked The Villager but not really my sort of place.
