Batman: Arkham Asylum

can't believe this cheap plastic rubbish that came through my door on this collectors edition....
I'm going to return this crap, and get the game on its down! £50!!! for this... someone's taking the ****!

Needs a powerful CPU to run @ full monty everything as my Q9450 rig stutters a bit but Core i7-965 is fine :D

Was your Q9450 stock?

If so then that's your problem because on my Q9550 it won't drop below 60fps even with 4xFSAA 16xAF 1920x1200 and that was pre-patching.

Any quad 3GHz+ will play the game perfectly fine, the rest is down to your gfx card.

Yep stock 2.66Ghz not too bothered as I can play it just fine with high physx or full everything on my Core i7-965 @ 3.33Ghz both with stock GTX260-216's.

Made the leap and bought Batman from Steam now. Can't download it though =/ will just wait til the weekend. Also bought RE5 :D

PhysX even on normal does ideally need dedicated PhysX hardware like a spare 9800GT (as the installer states during update installation) in the 2nd PCIE slot.

I found that...

...
physx_yes.jpg

(PhysX on HIGH, 4xFSAA)
25-35fps in areas with smoke
60fps in all other areas
Only difference I see is that it adds smoke particles to the game, explosions look as they did before with same particles, batman's cape also waves around nicely like a cloth which is the same as it was without the patch...

...
physx_no.jpg
:
(PhysX off, 4xFSAA)
60fps everywhere

BTW I use Vsync in this game.

So really all the patch seems to do for me is enabled smoke and halve the framerate :p

Fail!

Just to complain that's why.

Ahmen brother.

Even if you did and contacted them, I doubt they would say "On yer bike".

I am getting ****** off with these morons who "go off on one" when any type of DRM is used. Theyre the ones who have caused it most likely.

Most legitimate game buying public dont care about DRM (Well, it has never bothered me). As long as I never have to telephone someone to activate something, I dont give a ****.

Get a life you ******* morons and stop downloading stuff just because your tramps and cant afford £30 for a game < Is for all pirates.

I work, I earn money, I like playing games so I buy them with my disposeable income. Sure, ive bought some stinkers in my time but that is my choosing, nobody forcing me.

If you find games are too expensive, get a better job or fund it by other means.

What this crap about only being allow to reinstall 4 times per month
According to the Eidos community manager on their Batman AA forums Steam have a global policy for no more than 4 reinstalls per month. Someone asked the question about BatmanAA DRM and all digital version are limited to 3 or 4 in total but the retail is unlimited.

Its very busy there now as lot of people are having tech issues so you will need to look for it but its there somewhere.

Just got in from work having picked this up today and installed it. When I run it I get an error saying xlive.dll is missing? Anyone else had that? Tried Google but don't seem to get much about the Batman game. A few people had it with Gears or War though. Really want to play now :(

My main gripe with this game is that I have no idea how far ago the last savepoint was unless I was paying super close attention, so when I want to quit it's always a gamble.
