Battalion 1944 (ww2 game )

Hmm, I'm always a little nervous of these 'look what we made in UnrealEngine' type projects, and 100k doesn't seem enough for the scope of what they are talking about. Are they drawing a salary from the KS money?

Will keep an eye on it though..

Call of duty 2 was my favourite game maybe ever, so I really hope this goes well but I got to say I don't think 100k is gonna cut it.
I think this needs to surpass the goal by maybe 400k, I feel like 500k would be a more
realistic ask for making a game like this and making it on consoles too.

It's pre alpha and not made by a huge AAA dev team. What do you expect it to look like?

Well seeing as theyre asking for my cash, something more than I already own.

As for AAA devs, it doesn't matter anymore whether its indy or big publishers. Indy devs might have funding issues which is one of those risks, but AAA devs had a habit of ruining games anyway.

Was just expecting to see a bit more gameplay rather than how theyre going to implement rankings and stuff, thats all.

Looks very very basic. Gonna wait and see what happens.

Good, basic is what we are all screaming for.

No levelling, unlocks, XP points, crafting, looting or any other nonsense. Just give me everything the game has to offer from minute one and let my skill (or lack of) determine how good I am, not the ability to call in an orbital space destroyer because I've sunk my entire existence into it and unlocked it with 1 billion XP points or £50.

yes thats the whole attraction to this game. no bs back to how we used to enjoy games

ranking systems and such are often just a crotch for weak gameplay.

the best fps games i played mainly had no such systems and were just choose character and play.

medal of honor, cod 1/uo / cod 2 simple just play and shoot more down to player skill.

the only worry at the moment is its a kickstarter and a very small team. if it wasn't for games that didn't mess up kickstarters rep like The Stomping Land i don't think many would even question the game.

so i look forward to how it progresses.

I wish people would read the KS page before assuming the worst.

Our goals are designed to reflect actual development goals and how much it will realistically cost us to reach these objectives. We are under no illusions and estimate it will cost in the region of £200,000 ($300k) to fully fund the initial vision of the project, which is why we're investing £100,000 of our own funds once our initial funding goal is reached to ensure Battalion 1944's successful release and post game support.

We have broken down the combination of our initial funding goal and £100,000 of our own funds into this simple to understand pie chart. The majority of the funds are allocated to development, keeping the focus on designing and developing the best title possible. We’re determined to make Battalion 1944 a great experience across both PC and Console. With high fidelity graphics created using the latest tech for modelling, texturing and animation, it’s important we have a large portion of our funds dedicated to ensure this level of quality is consistent across the entire game. The costs of maintaining a strong community presence are also included in the chart, albeit a modest amount, it's important that the community is managed appropriately.

Wow, lot of Call of Duty 2 love in here.

I preferred the original (more United Offensive) myself. Hopefully they have big maps and could add vehicles in the future.

Reliable Server Hosting with Multiplay

Battalion is teaming up with Multiplay to bring players the most reliable and highest quality in game servers. Alongside our official servers, players will have the ability to host and change server rule sets to suit their own gaming needs. Server admins will be able to choose to have BattleRanked, unranked, or private game servers.

Multiplay EXCLUSIVELY?

FAIL.

Hardly any budget for a single player game as well though is there. While I'd love to see one as well surely the expectation needs to set against the size and scope of the project.

No, no, no, no, no, no vehicles.
I wouldn't have backed if vehicles were mentioned.

I think Gimpymoo is referring to Multiplay Game Servers rather than 'Multiplayer'.

Multiplay Game Servers are rubbish. :D

people always say that but i have had many over the years and never had a issue with them.

takes me back to the jolt servers :D

The issue we had when I was at 247 was the very poor customer service they gave, servers on the whole where ok. They are expensive for what they are, we moved to another provider who gave much better service at a cheaper price.
