Battalion 1944 (ww2 game )

Finally managed to play a s&d game after 2hrs of watching loadscreens, I had only managaed to get into a few team deathmatches before. For now though I am requesting a refund on it while I still can.
- I am aware it is a esports title but the visuals are terrible (something that seems to be common with and game using U4 engine)
- sounds are clunky.
- leaning is bad.
- movement somehow feels weird
- Weapon balancing needs tweeking
- servers are terrible

+ hit reg feels good (important + point that many games further into development strill cannot get right)

All the - points can be fixed if I had longer to decide if the gameplay itself is worth the money then maybe I would find some charm in how it plays then I would not have requested a refund.

I will keep a close eye on how the development goes but for now I see no reason to play this over csgo.
The painfully bad launch will also show the strength of the dev team and pr team on how well informed they keep the public and how long it takes to fix.

Played it round my mates the other day, I really disliked it. Was hoping it felt more like old skool Call Of Duty United Offensive days, but it just feels off. Don't like the simplicity of it, movement feels off as well. Definitely off the radar now.

Refund for me also - It's very basic, not very entertaining, maps are extremely basic and boring. It's got the feel of a game from about 15 years ago.

which is the entire point :p so it comes down to skill of the player. not a broken wall in battlefield. :D

servers seem better getting into it now.

I think there's a patch coming sometime today which will fix joining server browser games not accepting more than 10 people, I'll be in those.

And asap they need to fix the match making, servers not filling, becoming uneven and not auto making teams fair and not being able to manually change team.

Funny now that many more are playing/trying it out, you see a lot of "does not feel like COD2"

Not sure but I'm sure I said something like that...........

you see a lot of "does not feel like COD2"

It doesn't

The gun play does feel like CoD2 it's probably the only decent thing the game has going for it right now and the only other similarity is the era and weapons I guess

Everything else however feels more like CS 1.6 from map design to movement to the whole boring 5v5 which is nothing like CoD (what happened to 64 players ? Is 5v5 all we can manage now 10 years later ?) and is very disappointing

Like others have said though there's something about it all which just feels "off" and not quite right with it

comp cod was all 5v5 and promod.the game replicates it well.also the player numbers for normal arcade mode is being worked on.mates just got a tdm server.great fun.

i think the thing is did you play cod 2 or cod 4 is big servers 32/64 or did you play comp ? which was 5 vs 5. bigger player number servers are on unranked and arcade.remember its alpha.

I think people confuse 'looks like' with 'feels like' from the moment I played this game my first thought was 'nothing like COD2 besides the visuals'

I have always thought it's how COD2 felt, same but to a lesser degree sof2 that made them such popular games.

So it doesn't feel like cod2? Apart from the gun mechanics? (Arguably the biggest point of an fps).

Boring 5v5? You mean the most successful professional gaming set up that spans across different genres it's so successful?

Granted maps could be more entertaining but I think you're just confused with regard to expectations and what the game was being sold as.

It's a competitive fps.

'Glory days' of 32/64 player cod2 didn't exist. They were just random servers you could join. The maps weren't even designed for that scale. You can join 32 man servers on battalion.

Cod1/2 and 4 were all about 5v5 competitively. 2/4 with the help of promod.

However I don't know how many hours you put into any of the above games, especially battalion, and I'm not here to convince people to play a game they have no interest in... the above 'summary' just seems a little weird.
