*** Battlefield 1 ***

I'm not enjoying this as much as I thought I would. Definitely prefer BF4 to this.

Has anyone felt the same or just me?

I loved the Beta, then played the release and wasn't feeling it, but now I've played a few hours and adjusted my play style a little I'm loving,

Mainly playing medic and using the awesome Mondragon Optical, heels and revive as much as possible and last few games been top of the board, also go squad leader if you can.

Hate being in a squad with people who don't throw down orders.

part of the issue is finding some guns you feel comfortable with.

Starting medic gun for example is awful !

Once you unlock better guns it gets more enjoyable.

I'll keep playing but normally my first impressions are kind of lasting impressions on games for me.

Hopefully i'll enjoy it more as I play more games.

Give Operations a go if you haven't already. Amazingly intense atmosphere. The sounds are incredible and winning as attackers is such a great feeling.

can someone explain the battlelog to me.

we tried playing over the weekend 3 of us in a squad. from the battelog we could only find what seems like a fairly small amount of servers, and they were either 60+/64 servers, or 4/64 servers. none with 30 odd people within them, and none that had a max of say 24, 32, etc and we didn't want 64 servers.

what were we doing wrong?

it felt very slow and boring to try find a game

The server browser seems a bit broken to me and yes I've noticed that there are hardly any to select from, even if you have no filters. I am just selecting Quickmatch or the suggested Conquest maps at the Home screen.

Domination mode can get in the sea. Nobody revives or waits for one. Got idiot medics right next to me who don't bother.

Look forward to when Call of Duty comes out so these morons bugger off there.

Change the filter to show 1-5 slots available. You will see tons of servers.

They could do with adding a team preference option on the Operations menu. TBH though, if I'm on the wrong team I keep checking the score board and switch sides at the first opportunity.

Attackers rarely win the game in Operations. It's less a case of 'can you win?' and more a case of 'how far can you get?', though I've won an attack on every map bar the Ottoman one now. Only tends to happen if the defenders are badly out matched though.

So i picked this up last night with an Elite controller. The game is really good, the beta didn't sell it to me at all but this I'm really enjoying. On a side note i always used to look at the Elite controller and think it was a bit of a gimmick but it is so nice to use and definitely feels like the next level materials wise. That's without configuring the extra buttons too! Looking forward to having a decent gaming session this weekend. :)

Do you guys play with one certain role, ie, Assault, Medic, Support or Scout or do you chop and change ? I seem to switch between Assault and Support but feel I should knuckle down and focus on one role and feel it should be support.

I admit, I'm not a great player k/d wise but know that BF is about more than k/d. Maybe I should just dish out more ammo, lay down suppressive fire from afar and hold down the objectives with my mortars.

Also, I have just over 900 war bonds to spend, any must buy's for Support class ?

I tend to focus on one, hard to get in a rhythm when chopping a changing. And you're right to concentrate on your classes specialty, my best scores have come with terrible k/d but loads of heals/revives.

Playing as medic can be infuriating when you're running to revive someone and they tap out. It happened so much last night, nearly controller through the TV moments .... might have to swap to scout to stop the rage :p

I change roles regularly, depending on what I want to achieve and what the situation calls for. Probably spend most of my time as Assault or Support because there's often a lack of people attacking/defending points and way too many people sniping. I'll play Scout as an ambusher on some of the tighter maps though, like Argonne Forest. I'm not really in to the pointless Sniper v Sniper battles that unfold on the larger maps. Too often that meta-game wraps up half the team while contributing the bare minimum toward victory.

Sticking to one class means you're relying on others to plug the hole in your team composition. While you shouldn't need to be good at all four, practising with two is a decent idea as it gives you a little flexibility. Chances are, the team will need either another Assault, or another Support. In all likelihood they won't need another medic (because nobody seems to want to wait for a revive) or another Scout (as there's almost always loads of them, camped miles from the battle, playing chicken with the other team's Scouts).

that's exactly how you should play. my brother killed 4 people, died 20 times the other day. he was 4th on the total list from both sides and that was from taking objectives, doing squad tasks, defending where needed etc. that's far more important then k/d ratio

I try to keep to one class so I can work towards any betters weapons.

I was a medic at first but did not really like the role.

Ive since changed to support and much prefer it so far. I sometimes forget my role and charge in thinking Im assault class, so not the best thing to do.

The Lmg's you start with are not that great but can be very effective in certain situations.
The mortar is awesome and is very effective on any stationary tanks in range.

The gas grenades are also very effective.

I would say this is the first BF I have played that Im quite pleased with the support class role.

Im working towards the MG15 and BAR which are both meant to be pretty good.

I disagree TBH. The ideal is to strike a balance. To get 20 deaths and a 0.2 K/D ratio he must have been pretty reckless. If everyone followed suit, the match would be over quickly. Your team would lose.

Playing for the team is the most important thing, true. But the aim is to do that without wasting the team's tickets on suicide runs toward heavily guarded objectives. The only class that maybe has an excuse is the Medic, though I'd argue it's better that Medics stay alive and take the easy heals/revives, rather than doing suicide charges toward downed allies who are in view of the enemy.
