*** Battlefield 1 ***

First time played with a few mates tonight and I actually quite enjoyed it. 5 rounds 3 wins, gunplay is definitely much better with the unlocks. Will keep playing and make a decision at the end of the beta but I think at the very least I'll pick up the base copy.

Too me, this series feels like it's had it's run and is now on it's last breath :(

this....quoted for the truth, absolutely spot on mate.

But the thing is, because its so casual the ZOMG crowd will be snapping up copies like its going out of fashion, will prob be Dice's biggest selling BF game. Sadlt, that's what is killing the series. Moneyz yo

I cant speak for everyone out there but I will be snapping up a copy because I find it fun. Dont know if that makes me one of the ZOMG crowd or not, I just buy games that I get fun from.

Given the amount of money that DICE/EA have sunken into marketing especially with having celebrities attending the live events, I am fully expecting this to be a massive money making machine for them, possibly even matching SWBF sales...

However, at the same time, I am seeing very few truly enjoying this on forums like this and others (tbf, probably largely down to the map), seems to be mostly the veteran BF crowd that are being the most vocal so who knows....

Assuming they don't implement the necessary changes for final release, I expect them to sit on their asses for about 2-4 months doing nothing and then they will notice the drop in players and only then decide to implement the much needed changes i.e. like what happened with hardline and battlefront except it was too little too late for them :(

Personally it is still a no buy from me (at least not a day 1 purchase), even with the rekting crew on, it just doesn't hold my attention the same way as bf 4 did, fun for a quick blast but I can't see there being any longevity to the game much like hardline and battlefront.

EDIT:

Just think if they had done battlefront properly i.e. based on bf 4 *sigh* :(

wow

Ive not played BF since BF3 and it immediately feels exactly the same but --- dumbed down to **** and console mode style game play.

Run and gun nonstop.

WW1 is cool and all that but 30 mins playing and i know its just not worth buying another EA money making machine.

The only good thing is that ww1 (inspired by wonder woman movie by any chance?) will be making a come back in gaming... could be interesting.

Is this what star wars was like?

My pc played it suprisingly ok but its just not really good enough to warrent a price.

Well I kept crashing having no memory!!??

8gb ram and 6gb gpu.

Was getting a good fps in the mid 80's just kept crashing to desktop!

When it did play I thought the way the soldier ran and held the gun was very tf2!

So this will be another year with no Battlefield. Glad I didn't buy a new GPU for this game :p

I really don't want to go back and play previous Battlefield games either and I would have thought they learnt from Hardline that catering for the casual crowd on the PC platform isn't the way forward for the franchise.

Problem now is what the hell do I play? Atleast GBBO can keep me entertained on Wednesday nights :D

Yeh game's got a memory leak problem. A few streamers have mentioned it.

What has changed in the series then that has got people saying it's been consolified and made simple for the console folk?

I didn't play much 1942 really, just a few hours tops but I did play a lot of BC2 and also BF3 so I'm interested to hear what has changed in people's minds.

In my opinion what has changed is things have gotten more arcadey and cartooney and fast paced with a weird floaty feel where it takes no skill to kill people.

Also I just don't understand the point in playing a fps where people can spawn right behind you randomly is another of my gripes.

I'm looking forward to it, had a blast so far in the beta and the best thing is, if I am having this much fun on what is widely regarded as a bad map, that can only mean that I am in for even more fun on the other maps :)

The sad thing for me is that BF1 has been met with so much disdain on OCUK that I will have to find another group of people to play it with at launch. I really thought the majority here would like the game but it appears that the VAST majority here dislike it, so I will have to prowl around on the web a bit now to find a decent minded community to play it with.

I can't fly the ******* planes :D

seems so sluggish, don't know if it's my settings but i need to flick my mouse a lot to even turn a little bit, everyone just out outmaneuvers me lol
same with the Anti Tank Artillery scattered around the map, seems so slowwwww :o.

Still not sure on this. certainly won't be a day1 purchase will be waiting to see clips of the other maps.

Everyone's expectations are different, as long as you enjoy it that's all that matters. There are some OCUK'ers on the Discord channel that love the game too so you won't be short of people to game with.

When the game is released start a Platoon and get Origin ID's of those who play the game and update the OP so people know where to look.

Very true. I had 4 big hopes for 2016. No Mans Sky, Deus Ex, BF1 and Civ 6

Least said of No Mans Sky the better. (though this one was always really more of a hope than a real belief)

Deus Ex I simply havent clicked with at all, loved the past ones but something just isnt gelling with me for this one. Played it for about 3 hours and no urge to continue.

BF1 I have already put 16 hours into according to the Origin browser. Thats a hit for me.

Civ 6 I am extremely excited about , so hoping thats another hit.

2 out of 4 wouldnt be so bad, 50% of the titles I was looking forward to turning out to be hits for me.
