*** Battlefield 1 ***

To me it feels and has the same aesthetic as Battlefront. It's not ultra realistic with regards to WW1 but it's based in that setting. Certain weapons, tank speeds and other bits simply aren't WW1 realism.

You've changed your tune, 2 months ago it was a 100% no not getting it, now you are almost nailed on to buy it.

I thought 1Tap would be the first to crumble, but my money is on you now.

Still in the 100% not getting it camp :p

They have addressed a few of my complaints though so if they can change/fix the last few things, mainly the gunplay, then I'll get it (assuming the rest of the game is good and the maps being of great quality)

I do want to get this if it is good.... as quite frankly more or less every other PC game has been a complete and utter disaster this year and there isn't really much else coming out over the next year that I am looking forward to so if this is good, at least I will actually be able to use my PC for some gaming :p Not to mention it is going to be a long time till we see any other multiplayer game that will have us getting back together for some good gaming night sessions.

Can anyone summarise this game without me having to read 58 long pages?

Basically, I usually don't like WW1/WW2 stuff (guns made of wood!) I just prefer modern - but I quite like most Battlefields - is it just BF with WW1 skins (and wooden guns? I hate wooden guns!) or what are the main differences?

Its a bit more arcadey than BF2/3/4, etc. more like Battlefront except some weird gun mechanics/balance.

feels nothing like battlefront at all to me so I don't know what you guys are on about lol graphics are similar in the way they are freeking awesome but gameplay is completely different,if you guys were running around playing it like battlefront then its no wonder you didn't like it much lol :)

Make your mind up you EA shill.

I will on release day after I see reviews and what people on forums think :p What they need to do for me to get it is:

- have great maps, alpha map was just ok, beta map was awful
- change the gunplay mechanics and sniper rifles to have more lots more bullet velocity
- address the point system for conquest
- remove the cavalry elite system i.e. the armour they get
- make the movement and feel of infy play more like bf 4 rather than a clone of battlefront movement style

Amongst a few other things. If they address most of that, then I'll get it.

I would say nerf/remove the behemoths as well as removing elites completely but no point considering they are the core of maps/gameplay now :(

Jump in battlefront and go to first person mode :p

The movement and time to ADS etc. is identical to battlefront. Gunplay is also closer to battlefront than bf 3/4

It feels far more like Battlefront than any previous Battlefield game, they even chuck in the hero crap. Granted it doesn't bother me as much as some but can't see what purpose they serve apart from making the useless feel at least half decent. I guess that is the purpose.

I only play battlefront in first person mode and to me bf1 feels nothing like it at all,it plays totally different lol

Because its built on a newer version of the frostbite engine than bf 3 or 4, probably a slightly newer one than battlefront. Personally i just think all the battlefront complaints are down to the interface for options etc being the same. When i was playing it i didn't get any sense of it being like battlefront, yet apparently movement speed and ads time are enough to draw the comparison, or the animation of how someone holds a pistol.

Bf4 also had weapons stashed around the map that people could pick up, which was the start of the "hero class" thing.

Regardless i had fun playing the demo which is refreshing, BF3 and BF4 both got old fast with every vehicle having a lock on counter, got to the point you could barely go 5 feet without hearing that friggin lock on sound.

When the beta came, I went from battlefront back to bf 1 beta and vice versa, they are identical, even some of your BF youtubers have noticed it :p

And yes the time to ADS, the feel of the movement etc. etc. is enough to affect the infy gameplay, just look at how sluggish bf 4 felt when it came out then when CTE came out DICE upped the movement speed, time to ADS and other little things that all add up to make a subtle but noticeable difference... The infy play of bf 4 feels completely different now compared to the first 6/7 months and even more so compared to bf 3.

The gun mechanics are also closer to battlefront i.e. little to no recoil and hold LMB FTW and tap/burst fire with excellent recoil control is not king like it is in bf 3/4

As for the elites/pickups, I don't really have an issue with the guns (although would prefer them to not be included as well...), what annoys me is the extra armour they also get, this is a huge advantage hence why so many abused the horse spawn

11 mins later...

:D

I'm going to wreck Nexus if he buys this abortion of a game.

And nope, no way am I buying it...EVER!!!! it's arcade gash now this game. The game would have to change massively to persuade me to buy it, in it's current state, it's so far down my want list, it's off the bottom of my page.
