*** Battlefield 1 ***

I do like the medal system, as it gives a sort of "quest" aim to try and achieve but I'd rather it didnt have a time limit on it, purely because I dont want to feel like I am being forced to play every day.

Having a time limit on the medals certainly encourages selfish play rather than team/objective play. It was the same with the stupid phantom program in BF4.
"Wait, don't shoot, I'm looking for dogtags.."

It's nice to see some good reviews and feedback on the game but they clearly have a long way to go when it comes to "listening to the gamers"

Hopefully they will only partially listen to the gamers because I've lost count of the number of times a game has been ruined by actually listening to the gamers. All too often gamers *think* they know what they want then later come to realise that what they thought they wanted , they actually didnt.

I think that's it tbh it's the time limit. We will all be guilty of not doing the objective etc... because we are trying to rush and get medals. Also not being able to complete multiple ones at a time is annoying.

It doesn't matter if the quest is as stupid as you need to pin 10 pigeons to an enemy behemoth, it's the forcing you to do it within the time limit which means that rather than playing the game normally, and doing it when the opportunity arises, you actively go out of your way to do it.

It's like the retarded get 100kills with the M1911 they had in BF4 or BFHL recently to unlock a skin for the M1911 in BF1. Unless you play infantry only servers or pistol only servers, when in normal play are you going to rack up that number of kills with the M1911 without making it the focus of your gameplay? They'll undoubtedly do the same in BF1 at some point, only we won't have pistol only servers I suspect.

Maybe they should just release a dogtag for BF4 "Not a team player" objective: In one round, take the chopper and parachute onto the tallest object on the map 100 times.

The fact you have to 'activate' the medal you want to work at is retarded. Why can't you be actively working towards them all like BF4??

Ouch!

That's messed up. Server's are normally priced depending on the hardware and slots, so an 10 man TDM clan server will cost the same as a 64 player NOOBS WELCOME conquest server?

The only way they can do that is by giving them the same hardware which would mean you are overpaying for a 10 man TDM server and you'll not have enough server performance for a 64 player conquest.

Speaking of which I don't think I've been on a 64 player conquest server that hasn't exhibited packet loss and lag at some point in the round yet. :p

So thats, what .. 6 months for £120. £20 a month. I'm ok with that. I spend more on 1 family takeaway and dont get anywhere near as much enjoyment out of it :D

do you rent your own servers?
looking for others to play with who know what squad play is.
getting sick of being in a squad where they all go off in different directions.

You offering to host an OcUK server then? ;)

Lol, I'm sure there will be several servers to choose from in here. As long as a server is well populated around the clock, its a server I am happy to play on, nothing worse than playing on a ghost server. I've definitely got no qualms about £20 a month though. Its a pretty small amount for the time spent ingame, if I wanted my "own" server.

I love how they have disabled comments for that article too :D

Makes sense to really, people still have loads of questions about how much admin is available to them and so on. The thread would just be plastered in "can we do this?" , "will we be able to change this setting". They do say they are posting tomorrow with the details of what sort of controls will be available to the users, so can sort of understand why this post is locked today.

I would like to see exactly what customisation is available on the servers and how much control the renter has, but if its reasonable I would certainly be up for getting a server
