*** Battlefield 1 ***

@Gerard @Rossi @Zhuni

just to make you guys aware, i been tweaking my ryzen build,
Since turning off Windows high precision event timer, the slideshow issue on BF1 has not happened (20 hours of gameplay) it even has increased my performance by 5% in some cases.
Might be worth trying out. it can be done in the BIOS or in windows.

One of the first things I did when I started out with Ryzen (March), though it's off by default on W10.

So in the lead up to BF1 entering Origin Access, I decided to finally use my 10 hour free trial. This game is a blast and I look forward to getting the game with Access. I'm fairly surprised the game plays great at 1440p on high preset on a 980.

You could always turn your hacks off? Told you they would find out eventually

Still trying to beat me on the score board :D

Still the most annoying game. 44-5 in one game, everything I shot went down, next map, shooting blanks! Culminating in shooting someone 3 times with the shotgun at about 6 meters, he killed me and still had 100% health. Not a single bloody pellet had registered. Dummy well and truly spat out computer switched off :D

Oh and discord set up so will hopefully be on with OC's and they can listen to me whining on :D

Yay The Fluphy Haxor is joining us in Discord! :D

We got more abuse on CTE again last night, I swear these no skill mouth breathers are breeding.

I really wish the assault tank was single person, i can't be the only person that gets irritated when the rest of the chimps in it are just constantly firing the mg's at absolutely nothing.

how are people getting on top of that crashed zeppelin on giants shadow, never seen people up there before, sniped a whole bunch of them up there last night and 1 guy hiding up a tree.

Parachuting from planes and squad spawning. Seen a couple there myself and that seemed to be how they were doing it.

It's a long shot, but after trying every fix google throws at me, I turn to OcUK.
Whats the deal with the 100% CPU usage, killing frame rates?
Running a i5 4590, not the best, but I can't maintain 60fps with a 980ti even when I drop the res to 1080p/low detail.
The cpu just caps out as soon as a map is loaded, I know BF is CPU heavy, but please :(

I had to restrain myself from going Ryzen as i think it's just a sideways swipe and not a cheap fix when i'm on DDR3 now.
I love playing this game but it's so infuriating spending more time in the menu than on the map.

BF1 is one of the few newer games that really like more than 4 threads, the difference between a quad core i5 with no hyperthreading and a quad i7 with hyperthreading at the same clock speed is quite noticeable (and I still hear stories of quad core i7 users seeing ~90% usage). It's the way games are going to be going given that they are also written for consoles and the modern consoles are have 8 core CPUS. Quad core i7s are still good enough for bf though, Ryzen is also an excellent choice.

Another thing to remember is that by dropping the resolution you are putting more pressure on the CPU and less on the GPU. You might find that although the peak frame rates are lower at a higher resolution and graphics quality, that by making your 980Ti the bottleneck you end up with a smoother experience than you're currently getting with the CPU being the bottleneck. Smooth fps is better than highly variable. At 100% CPU usage, you might even start seeing issues due to your network latency and jitter as network packets aren't getting processed fast enough while the CPU cores are busy (one of the reasons the consoles dedicate one of their CPU cores purely to IO operations).

Not checked for a while but the last time I looked with a 970 and a 6700k at 1080, my cpu usage regularly hit 80+ percent. As I said haven't looked in a while but would be surprised its change much.

At the minute my game just isn't running quite right. The people I shoot at aren't where they are on my screen. Even sniping static targets is no guarantee of a hit. A repair install is my next attempt at fixing it.

We had a lot of that last night, periods of 0 hit reg followed by epic killstreaks. Something has been a bit odd in the last few days.
Still I'll be on for some FNB action tonight anyway, playing with devs when it happens might help get the message across!

This is the reason i decided not to purchase the game after trying the free trial.

I'm on an i5 3570k 4.5GHz and a 970 4GB OC. I understand that i'm not going to be able to play everything with this spec forever, but this is just the first game i've encountered that appears to benefit on more than 4 threads, so i decided it's not worth upgrading at this moment in time for one game.

The only thing i would probably upgrade is increasing my RAM to 16GB, but if this is a sign of things to come, then i'll hold off on that until more games come out (that i like) that utilise what Battlefield 1 does, as i'll end up buying basically a new computer.

To be honest it's the reason I upgraded my 3930k to a 6900k, the bf1 beta cooked my 6 core. (Partly because it was getting on a bit and partly because my AIO cooler was losing it's vigor).

Don't get me started on the utter uselessness of an i5 when paired with highish end GPU in BF1, the guys from Discord can attest to that.

My 3570k has been a constant source of poor performance ever since release.

After a few rounds in a light tank i'm gonna say again, there's far too much anti tank **** in this game. Not to mention dice seem to have downgraded its armour and k bullets now do much more damage to you, all the while your emergency repair option does literally **** all for your health. They need to wise up drastically on the amount of "lobbing" tanks need to do to land a shot, the mortar tank from the last time i used it seems to have had its range altered, i was just behind flag b on giants shadow and to even try hitting a tank at the top of the hill i had to point the barrel as high as it would go and the round still fell short. The round already takes a long amount of time to land at range so why make it even harder when its already a shot that people can dodge at range with ease?
