*** Battlefield 1 ***

Tempted to pick up Premium while it's on sale...

It's on special now, There might be a slightly better deal around black Friday, but I'd be astonished if it was lower then £20, and it's current price is the same as 2 of the 4 DLC packs. Personally I would get it if you think you'll be playing another 100hours or more, because I don't see the base game as having much content or being value for money on it's own. The extra DLC, extra 2xp events, battlepacks and access to CTE make it a game worth persisting with IMO.

Just tried playing again tonight. Don't know what's happened since spring with the updates, but it is now unplayable on my machine.

FPS are OK, but awful game breaking stutters every 20 seconds or so. I5 2500K and 7970.

Oh well. I have a 1070 GTX sat on my desk, unopened; waiting for a Ryzen 1600 CPU, mobo and ram to arrive tomorrow for a rebuild.
Have you updated to Windows Creators Update since you played last?

Some mas perform better than others don't they? I find the performance on the new snow map is great but maps like Amiens the fps can be a bit variable. Or maybe it is the server I was on?

Thanks, I'll give this a try. I've got a 165hz monitor, should I still set it to 144 in-game? I've heard you can change a script to set an fps limit as an alternative.

Yes you can add a script to the BF1 directory, however I use Afterburner for O/C'ing my GPU so I just Cap the FPS with Riva tuner as it's much easier. Capping yours to 160/162 would be fine but I'd personally stick to 120 then as mentioned your GPU won't need to work as hard, 120Fps is more than enough for a quick smooth experience in BF1.

How did you get on?

I've definitely noticed a bit of a difference. I did used to get some micro-stuttering in-game and some serious slowdown when the camera pans out when you die. Thanks for the suggestions!

Should I buy the game outright or sign up to a year of Origin access for £20. What's the difference?

What is it you want? Battlefield 1 or Battlefield 1 with premium? If you want premium, buy the revolution edition.

Look at the games within the Origin Access Vault. If you can see yourself playing any of them alongside BF1, get Origin Access. IF you buy Origin Access instead of the game outright, you will need to purchase premium pass separately.

Or if it works out cheaper, buy a year of Origin Access and buy the premium pass while on sale.

@chanjy Do you have any idea what game modes you like? What playersize games you like? Operations is fun but long, conquest is also fun and long, both have 64 player servers so there is always something to shoot at. If you like objective based games you could try Rush and Frontlines, these are 32 (I think) player games but aiming for the objectives is good fun. I haven't ventured much beyond these games modes myself but I really like Frontlines.

If you aren't sure on classes just yet, play as assault for a little to find your feet.

You might not know what maps or game modes you like until you actually play them. In the menu, Operations is easy enough to find but for the other game modes you will need to go to server browser. Then use the filters on the right to choose game mode.

Cheers just had a few quick games on Conquest, not great K:D ratios :D

Will get the hang of it eventually, the guns seem to be really specialist on this, not like BF3/4 so the soldier class really matters!

Cheers that did it for me - purchased premium! Enjoying some of the new maps and it's freshened things up nicely.

I haven't played this in a while, I came back to it today and had great fun! However my Avatar seems to have changed to a union jack rather than my origin avatar, any ideas why this is or how I change it back?

Got the revolution edition for £38, big learning curve for me with this game so far but enjoying it.

The start up weapons are absolute garbage which didn't help, found my self leaning towards scout class which is one I usually avoid too. The 1895 russian is a beast :)
