Avtomat (sp?) and the Farquar-Hill are the OP meta for medic.

I can't speak for the Avtomat (though i do get killed by it a noticeable amount) but after using the Farquar-Hill, I don't think it's that great at all. Quick firing with it is very inaccurate, so you have to take it easy unless they're right in your face. It took me ages to get the headshots for the optical version.
 
Yeah it's similar to the DMRs from BF4, panic spam firing won't work. Slow and controlled from say 50m+ it's pretty beastly.

I'm still working on the optical variant but not overly fussed about it, never been a fan of the optical variant of any weapon.

I just feel the need to unlock all weapons :p I won't use this anymore and likewise, I've never liked the optical variants either.

got one of these in October but never bothered to do it as i wasnt playing bf1 at the time, im suprised its still in closed alpha

It's unlikely to go beyond closed alpha in the current bf. It's a test bed for a competitive mode in a future bf. Given that a ww2 shooter is in the pipeline I'd imagine that is the timeline they are aiming for as the mechanics would be pretty similar.
