Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

Is there any word on how laptop GPUs handle the game, particularly the GTX560m? I'm looking to play with a resolution of 1366x768.

Anyone tried the WHQL 11.10 drivers? With or without CAP 4? I have 11.10 Pre3 with no CAP and running the game fine, I'm reluctant to try these in case they make things worse.

I get around 50 FPS with everything on high 2xmsaa and hbsao off sometimes higher going in to 70's and sometimes drop to 40 but mainly 50 this is on caspian border. I could turn a few more things on to ultra and deal with 20-40 fps but just doesnt feel smooth.

my setup =
i5 [email protected]
4GbRam
GTX 560Ti stock.

Im gonna see if overclocking my gfx card can help me get 40/50 fps with more settings on ultra.

Better off asking this over at Notebookreview.com. In answer to your question a GTX560m, assuming it is coupled with a decent SB based processor, should be able to push a mixture of High and Ultra settings at 1366x768. It all depends on what your target framerate is.

On a side note I have just been messing around playing the single player campaign on my new portrait Eyefinity setup and I am LOVING it.

My single HD6970 also handles it like a champ at a mixture of medium and high settings with framerates hovering between 30 and 45fps (in game FPS counter).

Very pleased.

Does anyone else get this problem........
When I go to Video settings and adjust the settings I save it which then puts up a banner asking "Do you want to save these settings" but the screen freezes and I have to Conrol,Alt Delete ?

Before you apply the settings, press 'alt' + 'tab' and go into windowed mode, press apply then go back into fullscreen, now it won't crash.:D

I have a massive problem where my 560Ti and i5 @4.4ghz run every game at max settings at 1680 x 1050, the beta fine too.....but not the retail version. I have tried various drivers and rolling back. You'll see it goes all weird and tries to catch up on itself, really annoying and means I can't fly anything or drive anything. Nor can I play big maps.

It starts with my trying to spawn... and it not responding, but catching up. Then when I shoot the gun you can see what happens.

Mostly happens on larger levels or when I come into contact with a vehicle - mostly of the flying variety. Then goes nuts when I try to respawn.

Any ideas? Settings are at high, with no HBAO, AA, V sync. Have tried a mixture and these settings run most of the other maps with only some stuttering, but still ruining this game for me after spending so much on my pc already.

Would changing the overclock make a difference maybe?

it will be ok imo, as i had a 560M laptop for a short while, and played Crysis 2 on it at high settings - and 1920x1080 native res, and got 35 constant frames. BBC2 ran better even. didnt try B3 though. other games that ran smooth were the dirt 2/3 games (though not quite ultra - unless you see 15 FPS as playable), COD MW3/COD 4 etc. 1.5 VRam it has, so not bad:)

Looks like a driver issue to me.

Try turning vsync off just incase that makes a difference.

Hope someone can help:
I have a Q6600 OCed to 3.2ghz for Battlefield 3.
I'm seeing it use 90-100% on all cores and I believe it is bottlenecking my CF 5850's.
Anyone seeing similar with the same processor?
No matter the settings/drivers I use, my fps remains similar.

I should add that my fps is the same or higher when going to single card!

What resolution are you running at?

^Yes and yes. Vsync will cap you at 60fps unless you are using a 120MHz monitor then it would be a 120fps cap with vsync on.

Playing at 1920x1080, but dropping it down to 1650x1050 really doesn't seem make a difference.
The GPU usage just scales back even more in crossfire.

Yea was just checking to see if you were playing at low resolution where the q6600 would struggle even more. I would try to get some more speed from your cpu as even at a decent resolution of 1080p i think its not fast enough for any of the latest cards in sli/cf.
