Battlefield 3 technical thread. Post in here for help with crashing/lock ups etc.

I've given up and uninstalled it. I'm just not prepared to risk file corruption of my OS with random restarts of the system because of whatever is causing these issues.

Skyrim on the other hand, runs sweet as a nut. So being able to devote my gaming time to it is at least not a total loss. :)

Sorry hildark7 no cake for me :(
I was having the same problem as you then I found the fix I told you & it worked for me.
Does it just happen when a new map is loading up?

:( it litterally is at any random time. it can be at the end of a match when your stats are show it can be when the game is loading a new map and it can be mid game... it really is random! :(
im gonna try reloading bf3 tonight, doubt that will make any diffrence but its worth a try i guess.

thanks for your suggestions tho :)

PS i will give you credit tho! the MSI Afterburner & MSI Kombuster is a lot sexier and i will use them from now! :D

This game is so random.

Played last night for nearly 5 hours with no crashes/BF 3 exe not responding or hard locks. Played this morning and within an hour....bang! Hard lock with the bbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrr looping sound. :(

Anyone find sometimes if you are playing BF3 and press shift + F1 to get into origin, then come back out of the origin overlay, the cursor is stuck in the top left of the screen?
Only way to stop it seems to press escape whilst in game then return to game, which frees up the cursor again.
Really annoying as you can't do this at the stats screen at the end.
Just wondering if there's a fix for it as a mate has found the same thing.

I keep getting really bad lag in 64 player maps, usually when playing at night. Got home early yesterday and played on a UK 64 player conquest on Caspian around 3pm. Game ran really well, around 59fps on custom settings, most on high.

Went onto same server last night about 11pm & it was like trying to walk through glue. Helis are impossible to fly, game's stuttering, just really bad lag. Like the old days of Q3 on dial up! I then tried a 32 player conquest of Seine on another UK server and it was much better. I had contacted BT about this on Thursday and they checked the line & found no problems, so I'm completely at a loss as to what's going on.

Read on another forum about changing some settings in nvidia control panel, such as power management, from adaptive to maximum performance. Can't be sure that explained the smoother 32 player match. Any ideas what that option does and why it should make a difference.

Great game & looks fantastic on my rig but equally frustrating at times. Thanks.

Did this today and just thought id share.....

Reflashed my Gigabyte GTX560ti OC with the most recent bios on the Gigabyte website, before doing so i checked GPU-Z and MSI afterburner for the Current bios and Core voltage

The latest bios on the Gigabyte site was the one i already had installed on my card and the Core voltage was 1000mV

Post flash the Bios reports the same version but interestingly the Core voltage has now risen to 1037mV

Before the flash BF3 would freeze within 3-4 mins of gameplay, now it is rock solid and GPU usage has gone up 3% as well....

Result :D
