Despite them having said the console versions will be cut down copies of the PC game?

Oh come now you know they won't make any major differences between PC and console where gameplay mechanics are concerned. All they probably mean is better graphics and maybe if we are very lucky, a UI that isn't **** and completely absent of mouse wheel support.

it's the play for free version. basically if you have BF2, play that. This is visibly worse. Graphics are a lotm 'muddier' with a lot less definition, but it is free to play and the maps have been tweaked ever so slightly.

Problem is, when a game is released for both PC and Console, you immediately have restrictions on what you can do because it's coming out on a console of which people use a gamepad to play with.
You need to limit to being able to play on that controlled alone, nothing fancy.

However, PC only? They let the reigns free and that's where the ingenuity and creativity and fresh air is allowed to spread free instead of fester.
Eventually consoles will mature into what a PC is now without hardware changes, if anything a modular design for future upgrades (££$$ makes sense) so we don't have to worry about it forever I imagine.

I just, don't expect much from BF3 so hopefully I will be surprised and not let down, I honestly, hand on heart; expect the MP to be very spammy, unbalanced explosion fest like every other modern military console fps game has been progressing into. Graphically I expect it to blow my nads off but I'd still play operation flashpoint today if arma1/arma2 never came out which is a silly way of saying "I care about how it plays", graphics in games have gone beyond a point where I can't care anymore.

But is it just gamers like us who were born into gaming from it's early roots?

Slightly OT; but kind of related, do you think with the upcoming release of BF3, and the fact that Frosbite 2 looks amazing, will Activision/Infinity Ward/Treyarch finally develop a new game engine for COD? Or do you think they'll just keep reaping the rewards of being able to churn out reskinned versions until sales are affected?

I remember someone posting a link to a site with Treyarch saying something along the lines of, that the current engine needs a few tweaks here and there and it can do similar to what the Frostbite engine can do, it's just whether Activision will say yes.

Which frostbite engine? :p

As the engine CoD is using is nothing like FB2.

I read somewhere that infinity award agreed that frostbite 2 was leaps and bounds above what modern warfare 3 would be capable of.

And just read that article above... co op!!! :D sweeeeet
