How do I get the 'shoot through rock' and 'eyes in the back of my head' unlocks? :p It gets ridiculous at times. I can take cover behind a rock and still get taken out by a sniper.

Are they well known glitches or are the players up to no good?

That will be a combination of client side hit reg and lag, basically on the other guys screen you where still in the open when he took the shot,on your screen you'd made to to safety behind the rock,it sucks and it happens a lot.

Im forever getting killed as ive just run around a corner to safety but i also kill a lot of ppl as they have run around the corner so its swings and roundabouts :)

so i recently got this game for free (the sim city mess up)

* No lone-wolfing - stick to your Squad to start with
* Choose a role and PLAY THAT ROLE i.e if you are Assault, then Revive. If Support, drop Ammo. If Recon, then spot and Soflam and place your Spawn Beacons intelligently. If an Engie, then Repair and provide Anti-Vehicle Support.
* Don't be afraid of being killed but don't waste your tickets meaninglessly - basically, PLAY THE FLIPPING OBJECTIVE. Don't play Rush and camp in a corner for the whole map etc.
* It takes time, at least 10 to 50 hours per Kit imo, to figure out what your specialism is and how you are most effective on the Field. This is different for everyone - but there being so many play-styles is one of the best things about BF
* Experiment with load outs and add ons till you find a sweet-spot

That is basic advice to start you off - lmk if you want anything more specific.

Similar question but...

I'm just away to cross over from console gaming to PC, I am a huge BF3 fan and consider myself to be an >average-good player which is pretty hard to achieve on console. I am pretty much guaranteed to be the only on on my side PTFO'ing as well as having to put up with <30fps and thumbsticks.

What, if any advice would you give in terms of transferring over, ie any tips on how to set up keyboards/mice, how to deal with large player servers etc? Just anything you can think of really that would be relevant.

I watch all of rival and lvl's vids but it would be nice to hear from real players, as well as maybe some who play on both platforms.

Cheers

I got BF3 on the PC latter part of last year. I had only put 10+ days into the 360 version so knew what I was doing fairly well but hadnt used a keyboard/mouse in years. On the 360, I always played Rush and did quite well, but getting used to the K/M again was tough, so I stuck with TDM/Close Quarters for the first few weeks to force my reflexes up to scratch, because I was getting smashed on Rush.

64 player can be a little hectic, PTFO can be the hardest on those maps, but great for getting loads of kills! and you can finally enjoy Conquest, not the 'ring around the rosie' of the console version. 64 player Conquest Metro can be good if theres no grenades/explosives.

After taking over a year out of playing the game, I think I've forgotten how to play it, so I'll take that advice as well and see if I can get some more enjoyment out of the game again. I use to love it but every game I've had since getting a PC about a month ago has been really lacklustre and just annoying.

Browsing thru someones videos who i dogfight sometimes... :D

Got bored of FIFA so am trying out BF3 :D

Do people actually play on high settings with loads of leaves/bits of paper flying around and tons of smoke and glare that is really hard to see through? It's really distracting! Or do you turn the settings down to make it easier to see the enemy?

Also between my 120GB SSD, Windows 7 and the 35GB game I am also struggling for space :(

It is staggering the size of the install for this. I too was running a 120gb ssd but it popped it's clogs a few weeks ago. Now using a spare mechanical hdd. Loads of room on it but very slow, my replacement ssd is arriving on friday. But again due to being only 120gb, ill probably sell it on to fund the purchase of a 256gb ssd. Definitely dont want to be stuck with a mechanical drive as primary for much longer.

Well then, I have a 6 core Phenom II @ 4.1 paired with a GTX580 and I can run with High / Ultra etc etc but

1. You can't see as much
2. I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between low and high when actually in the game. You'd be looking for Ze Enemy rather than at the textures.
3. Maintaining 60+ is important to me for fluid gameplay while recording.

I run custom
Texture ~ Low
Shadow ~ Low
Effects ~ Low
Mesh ~ Ultra (draw distance)
Terrain ~ Low
T Decoration ~ Low
AA Deferred ~ 2xMsaa (only recently turned this back on, may go back to post only)
AA Post ~ High
Blur ~ Off
Aniso ~ 16
Ambient O ~ Off

Another thing is VSync, turn that POS off!!! Field of view ~ If you are Inf use 78, If you are a big ol tanker use around 90 imo

Theese are the settings im currently using.

Though i think ill try lowering most but keep mesh at ultra. Ultra does make enemys harder to spot. Doesnt help that my eyesight seems to be getting a bit iffy, even typing this im hitting the wrong keys, so god only knows how many leaves etc ive shot at in game. Time to see the optician, (or probly not be able to see him).:D

Setter matey do you use MSI afterburner? If so limit your FPS so say 70, putting your GFX to Low and have a go one night, betcha improve from actually being able to see people. Oh and I also bet you can't really tell the difference.

Oh and ur GPU's will be quiet as a mouse

I do use AB mate, will give those settings a blast tonight. Your right about looks, on my second rig (i7 930 + 8800gt), i have to run low but the game looks grand tbh, noise wise the 670 wf is so quiet, you cant hear it despite a very heavy oc and auto fan.

Do you guys uninstall afterburner 1st when installing a newer version? I might upgrade to the latest version from 2.2.3.1 from 2.2.3 to see if i can finally unlock voltage throught it for my MSI 7850. I have to use AB for my fan profile and Trixx to overclock past 1150mhz and to change my voltage
