With 5850, my remaining setup still seemed pretty powerful. I was confident of using it for at least another year.

However 7950 has changed all that and has left my cpu, mobo and ram in the dust. It is crying out for more powerful platform. :cool:


It seems Q9550/Q9650@4Ghz are best paired with 5850, 5870, 460, 470 and 480. Any more powerful gpus would be better suited to socket 1156, 1155, 1366 cpus etc.
 
I am very happy with the performance of my AMD 960t that I unlocked to 6 core and oc'd to 4ghz, BF3 loves cores. That plus the 580 and everything on low I get 65 fps 99% of the time.

IN regards to capping your fps don't use afterburner, there is no point.

Open notepad > enter GameTime.MaxVariableFps 65 (or whatever value you want) > click save as > change to save as type to all files > save as name user.cfg and save it in your BF3 folder.

That way it doesn't matter if you change your monitoring program for another or even hardware. It'll read from the cfg when it starts and only use the max fps defined.
 
Has anyone thought…..This China expansion pack… Don’t suppose you guys think it could be Dalian plant, Dragon Valley and Daqing Oilfields etc etc?

OMG I would cry with excitement if that happened. Dalian Plant was my all time fav map

Was just going to ask if its more DDoS attacks...! hah. Would be both funny and frustrating.
 
Anyone been getting big triangles in this game recently and weird coloured textures I have been running fine til last week now I keep getting it around an hour in. I have the latest drivers, using a 680.

No artifacts in this but shows textures.

The latest drivers are *** go back to 314's

Possibly the worst nvidia for some time and i'm not the only one who had issue with the 320's. Freeze ups, texture issues as with you.

I dont get this but a few of my clan mates are getting the triangles stuff and other bizarre texture glitches, 3 of them have 560ti `s and one has a 660ti gtx seems to be no apparent pattern to why its happening :confused:

yeps but they have tried the 314.x ones and was still same :(
been trying to help them fix it especially the guy with 660ti because i recommended he buy it as an upgrade for his ati 6950 and now i get nothing but ribbed about it because of this issue :mad:
 
Hi everyone, I haven't played BF on the pc however i bought my new rig at the beginning of the year.

I have BF3 on ps3 but want to make the change to pc. Is it worth buying 3 or waiting for 4?
