the game can be okay but i dont like the art style to it or the buggy movements animations but...i have the odd game now and again.

i prefer rush.
 
Tried this game on ultra (MSAA off) on my new Gigabyte Windforce 3x 7950 today@1000/1250 Mhz (default settings). Res 1080p. The gpu usage fluctuation was unbelievable lol going from 38% to 56% to 75% to 100% back to 50% and so on as seen in the pic. FPS mainly stayed between 45-62 FPS. The cpu usage was around 78-91%.

Q9650@4Ghz
4GB DDR2

The gpu is severely bottlenecked by my current setup :(

I left the game long ago but decided to download and try again yesterday.

First few matches, I was terrible. I was worried that by being out for so long it would be hard to get back into it. However, all was good in the end.

Great game, I dont know why I stopped playing

Just gone through CCC gaming/3D applications tab and V-sync is off in general. So V-sync is off through drivers. Should I change any setting ?

The map was either caspian border or kharg island.
 
Hmm those maps are as smooth as butter for me. I see you have a quad @ 4ghz, that should be MOAR than enough for BF3, I spose it could be your RAM...but I doubt it.

Have you installed MSI with RTSS and set up a FPS limit there? May I suggest you enable FPS in Afterburner as well so that you can tell whether there is any correlation between FPS and GPU usage.

What in game settings are you trying to run this on btw......I have a nice PC but only run at low for being able to see people better, if you are trying to run ultra on your setup I would not be surprised if it is your RAM.

yeah I was running on ultra (msaa off). I will see what I can do with regard to tweaking the system. I think the main bottlenecks are the FSB and external memory controller.

Before purchasing 7950, I was running a single 5850 1GB on medium settings and gpu usage always stayed around 95%+. Obviously if I tried to run it on high/ultra settings, it ran out of grunt/vram.

With regard to 7950, even if I run the game on medium settings, it seems there is little variation in gpu usage and still 7950 is chocked.

edit: I have noticed that with installing and running 7950, my cpu usage has increased further by few percents going into early 90s%. before with 5850 usage mainly went up to 85%

I will do more testing with medium, high and ultra settings and see for further clues

A 7950 needs a minimum 2500k at 4ghz plus to get 98%+ usage in bf3

Old quad cores just dont cut it!

Or drop every setting to low except mesh quality and just play with limited fps! Only way to play tbh!

Defo do this, when you are playing there is no real difference between Ultra and Low. These are my settings and yes I can run at full ultra if I wanted to, not that I ever would.

Graphics Q ~ Low
Tex Q ~ Low
Shad Q ~ Low
Mesh Q ~ Ultra (Can't imagine high will make a difference for you)
Terrain Q ~ Low
Terrain D ~ Low
Anti A ~ Off
Anti Post ~ High
M Blur ~ Off
Ansio ~ 16
Ambient ~ Off
 
bf3 is deffo better capped fps. the game doesn't benefit from higher fps like quake games so no real point in just going for highest.

i cap at 60 using msi after burner if i play.

wing your current set up will be holding back your fps i have a 7950 clocked @ 1100/1575 and i get close to 80 fps solid on highest settings @ same res with msaax4

i have a i5 3570k @ 4.4.

I went from playing on my 2500k @ 4.6 / 7970 Lightning @ 1100 full ultra to a Macbook Pro with a 512mb 650M playing on medium and I was genuinely shocked at the little difference in the graphics.
