Guys I really do need some tips for this..

I just got this last week, got the premium edition. Been playing BF games since BF1942 was first released years and years and years ago, so I'm not new to the style. Played loads of BFBC2 and really enjoy it, am pretty decent on it, not legendary by any means, but I do pretty well.

Now, BF3 though..I am struggling with hugely, to be honest, I'm not finding it entertaining or enjoyable. I just seem to be REALLY struggling to adapt to BF3. I seem to be getting killed time and again by people that I dont even see, people seem to spot me and aim and kill me in seconds whereas quite often I dont even actually see them til its too late. I empty bullets like mad into them and they just turn, go ratatat and Im dead. So I could really use some tips...primarily on how I can see people better, I dont know if my eyesight has suddenly failed since I played BFBC2 2 weeks ago or what, but I am just not seeing the infantry quick enough on BF3.

To be honest you are playing against people that have racked up 100's of hours so it will be a steep learning curve even if you have played previous bf titles.

First thing to try may be to turn down all in game settings to low except mesh which can be high/ultra. It clears the screen a bit and should help but its no good it you like your candy.

edit: also what guns/kits ect do you use?

I have never played BF before but decided to pick this up a couple of days ago as well but keep getting popped off by snipers sometimes seconds after re spawning. Not enjoying it if I am honest. I can cope with snipers usually but if I don't even get a chance to move its not fun.

On the plus side it looks great and some of the close quarter action is fun such as giving suppression fire to push the opposition back while working in a team to clear an area.

There is a very high possibility the above problems are soley due to me being rubbish at it!

Ive been using all that I've unlocked so far, mixing and matching depending upon whats needed at any point on the map.

I dont mind the snipers, oddly its not them I'm having the trouble with, I'm just having trouble seeing enemy players and once we engage each other, they are dropping me in a few shots which seem pretty accurate, whereas I'm shaking about like Michael J Fox and emptying bullets like mad into them and they just keep coming. Admittedly its been a while since I was a "low level" on BFBC2, but this just seems so unforgiving compared to that. Like you, I'm just not enjoying it and am considering going back to BFBC2 instead.

EDIT : See now like I say, I'm not great in BFBC2, I'm only level 32 on it, but I generally get positive KD ratios, like 20-15 or 20-12 etc...just finished another map on BF3 though, and scored 3-34 KD. Just literally encountering other players and they go bang bang, Im dead, I encounter them and go bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang...they turn and go bang bang and I'm dead LOL. I'm sure its not the game, as most others seem to be enjoying it, but I am just really struggling with it.

I love the game, but i was playing it on ps3 before i got it on PC.

I find it a struggle on some maps at the moment, especially 64 players as i spawn and theres people everywhere lol.

Have you tried playing smaller close combat maps more often? Once you unlock a few of the weapons and accessories it becomes a bit easier as you have better scopes and then it's just becoming pro with the mouse and keyboard.

** On a side note, my co-op doesn't seem to connect the last two days. Is this just an issue i'm having? I want to unlock the final two weapons, if anyone can help solve this problem i'd appreciate it.

What sort of ping do you get in game? Tried playing with the network smoothing setting? Doesn't sound like you are bad, sounds more like they see you first, as BFBC2 and BF3 really aren't that different on hit boxes.

Some of that can be attributed to players knowing the levels inside out. I know exactly where to throw grenades and where you can and cannot shoot from on all of the close quarters maps, making me have a distinct advantage against players that don't know this information. If you have premium, you can download the prima guides from the battlelog website, which do actually go over each of the expansion packs and show you most of the good spots and tactics to use etc.

Ah, might give that a go, thanks

My ping is averaging around 40-50 on the servers I'm trying

Hmm thats about what I get on average also. What weapon/class do you normally pick?

Try assault with F2000 or M16A3 or support with something like the M240B and see if you can handle either of those. The F2000 is insanely accurate in small bursts and even full auto (even at decent range!), making it a cracking weapon to use. The M240B just spits out so many rounds that its really useful on close quarters maps, especially when combined with the extended mag and foregrip...

I've been trying the last few days as well so I can unlock the last weapon, but no luck getting connected to anyone. "abnewton" on Origin if you want to try matching up directly .... though I warn you that I'm rubbish! :)

Meh, just run through them on easy to get the xp points. I have 110k points need to get the final stretch done for the last two.

I'll add you shortly.

Thanks I'll give those a try, btw, is there a quick way ingame to compare/see the weapon attributes? In BFBC2 you could look at the weapons and it had those little bars on each weapon for accuracy rating/rate of fire/etc etc. I cant seem to find an easy way in BF3 to look at all the weapons so that I can compare them?

Not in game but most people will use this site for weapon comparisons. You can change all the attachments round to see how it upgrades or nerfs the weapons. http://symthic.com/bf3-weapon-charts

Also with regard to your problem , I can relate to it from when I started playing BF3 earlier this year. Same problem with getting shot repeatedly by enemies I had no idea were there. Also mag dumping at them only to be killed by them turning round and popping me off with no probs and getting tea-bagged for my troubles ;)

All I can say is that it improves very quickly as you learn to use your minimap better along with knowledge of the maps. Choosing the right gun and its attachments helps and learning how to control said weapon. You just cant mag dump most of these weapons unless you're standing toe to toe. Practice how to counter the recoil by pulling down on the mouse or by burst firing with a tap-tap-tap style. It'll come with patience

Anyone with a nvidia card (670 in particular) get any artifacting in bf3, i'm not sure if its my card or software related, seems to only happen in bf3 which is the odd thing, the other odd thing is it doesnt happen all the time

https://www.dropbox.com/s/px9ghruq8e7ku64/2013-05-22 21.01.23.mp4?v=0swn-

I installed some newer drivers and the problem appeared to go away but then at the weekend it came back

I had the same problem, it was the drivers and i downgraded to nvidia 311.06 which fixed it.

Assault class with M16 / M416 / AEK + Foregrip + HB, Medkit NO 320!!!

Fire in 3 shot bursts for longer range, 5 for medium and 8-full auto for right up in yo face. Also look up some levelcap / rivalxfactor videos for tips etc

<Help Request>

If you want to rack up the kills, go for Assault as advised above.

Also, BF3 as it stands presently has a much more varied and 'different' player landscape than a year ago. You have to take into account bunny-hopping Level 100 noobs (as I call them), a wide range of completely new players, and pretty much everything in between with a bias on the more experienced.

You also have to accept that many many more matches these days are completely one-sided routs, and if you find yourself being annihilated by seemingly invisible morons repeatedly, chances are you should just switch server until you find a balanced one. In fact my top tip would be to take care of the server you are playing on - i.e. is it well balanced and well-administered - as your main match decider. Better still, find a reputable community (like ocUK) and stick to their Servers.
