Cant remember what cpu usage was in the trial, but bfbc2 is pretty high. Even at 40fps, the game felt very nice, even better with sli enabled, gpu memory usage was 1090mb ono. Roll on the beta guys, bfbc2 does feel a bit slow after this, and i run it maxed, 70-150 fps. Gpu's are clocked at 750 mhz, stock speed is 630mhz.

Yep, i loved the ol 6600 i had, like an idiot i replaced it with a q9550, also got it to 3.8ghz, but cooler running. Bought it on a drunken impulse at 3am.:D

Core 2 processors are still going strong for games. I have seen some people asking about upgrading from the likes of i7 920, i7930 to i5 2500K and i7 2600K in their respective threads. This I have never understood. The first gen of i5 (750,760) and i7 (920,930, etc) are still very powerful for gaming.

Ive seen a few posts like this as well, tbh an i7 is way overkill for the majority of games. With a single gpu, the difference over my two s775 quads was very small, any recent quad core, c2q, amd x4 i7/i5 etc will be fine for bf3. The gpu is the most important part for games.

Indeed.

As I never got to try the alpha trial updated version, I will never know how much FPS I would have gotten.

I do hope that my 5850 will be able to handle BF3 on highest settings. 2 x AA will be good enough for me.:)

Your oc'd screens show a lot better fps than my single oc'd 470. Luckily i got to try the later version with sli. In bc2, i normally run 4x msaa, 16x af, highest settings, bloom and hsao off. Ive also ran it with 32x aa with very little performance hit.

Anyone with a 2500k who isn't on 4.7ghz is a noob. True Story.

Have they magically fixed something to get me past 4.5GHz stable? Last time I looked into it was back in February with latest beta bios etc. and anything above 45x would crash on idle sooner or later.

Bugger! Went into the EA Store and tried to apply my £10 off Coke Zone Code and it isn't taking any cash off BF3 because it's a preorder. It didn't even mention not applying to preorders in the terms and conditions or I wouldn't have redeemed my points for it. :(

You could go onto EA support and ask them for a 20% discount code, which works with BF3 (I think).

Someone else did it before, they just went into chat, said they lost their code and asked for another, and got 1 for nothing.

Worth a shot.

I've already got a 20% code off of them by asking in chat. :)

The plan was to use the 20% code then apply my Coke Zone code for a further £10 off. I don't think this will work anyway because the EA Store system seems to just default to whichever code gives the biggest discount.

If I can't get it resolved I'll just use the 20% code.

Hi, my name is Richard. How may I help you?
2264150752: I was going to preorder BF3 on Origin but it's £10 more expensive than most other places. Would it be possible to get a promo code for 20% off?
Richard: Yes, no problem if you found it expensive, please allow me a moment.
Richard: Here is your 20% discount coupon valid till 31st august.
Richard: Is there anything else that I can do for you?
Richard: and I would greatly appreciate if you can take out some time to complete the survey which you will receive in your E-mail.
2264150752: Where is the coupon? I can't see it :s
Richard: Sorry, XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Richard: I apologize.
2264150752:
lol, no problem. Many thanks. :)
Richard: No problem.
Richard: Thanks for contacting EA Customer Support.
Richard: Have a great weekend, Smiles
Richard: Bye.
2264150752:
bye

For the record I don't think the issue with the Coke Zone code is EA's fault. Coke Zone should state in their T's and C's that the voucher won't work with pre-order titles.
