CoD vs BF stuff....

People compare BF to CoD which just isn't a fair comparison, it's a shame as it reinforces a trend. Due to the popularity of Battlefield, EA are wanting to push BF towards CoD's position in terms of gameplay, accessibility etc. This is a bad thing for the battlefield games as we know them, in the long run. I just hope BF3 hasn't gone too far towards being CoDish or dummed down.

On the subject of aircraft, I really hope the map size and flight models are more like BF2.

Err....that's been more or less sorted hasn't it? EA have said this is a PC game that will be ported to console, not the other way round as cod has done.
So we'll get big maps with 64 players in em......yayyyy! :)

You know, I am honestly expecting it to cater for new generation gamers and will follow the trend you see most games following these days. Which has a higher probability of annoying most people, myself included.
The reason MW/COD has become so popular (I don't like them) is because they sold loads, they are very popular to the younger generation, consoles too.
I don't care if they make a game then port it to a console, it's all just words, I am not hyping this up in case of complete failure, sure it looks amazing but I'd rather sit back and wait for 3rd party sit down and play reviews.

Though, no battlefield series has disappointed me I have to say, I know it won't happen but I am looking for a slower pace to the current trend, which in turn would give more room for tactics in a public environment, as well as a bit more bullet spray instead of almost every weapon being like an automatic railgun :) I prefer hardcore modes too, but BF has always had a reasonable damage/health ratio for me. With the fact you can drag team mates and mount weapons suggests to me there may be more recoil/spray and a slower pace of game, not too slow, but some?

It's a shame easy to use, fisherprice sniper weapons are always in these games, it would be nice if they re-thought the whole idea, for the purpose of a team-balanced-tactics type of game they are anti to that, for cap zones you always need people out and near within a short radius to capture when xxsniper1337xx and his buddy are out of the danger zone shooting anyone with near-pin point accuracy due to a lack of almost no bullet drop (More bullet drop in BF3 at least, yay). When they do however die, look it's MrMcMedic behind the hill just permanently resurrecting them.

Hopefully the change in bullet drop does mean it takes more skill than a point and click rpg, even I avoid playing sniper because it's just too easy and I feel it just messes up the entire environment for everyone. The only time I do play is to counter an enemy one.

Sorry for the rant, but I really do wish they would try something new other than better graphics, some heavy hitter needs to re-write the arcade team based shooter a bit. Come onnn!

One of the NPCs is left handed, is that something that's been put into an FPS before

It could just be that he was firing round a right-corner, where changing to the left shoulder enables accurate shooting with less exposure.
It wouldn't surprise me that DICE have put something like this in, considering the situational-character-positioning they've been mentioning.

most military forces train their soldiers to be able to shoot from both shoulders.
the UK's military forces are in a small minority on this because the L85-series of weapons cannot be safely fired from the left shoulder

If you don't mind ejected hot brass in your face you can fire from the left :p

if you shoulder the weapon and attempt to aim down the sight and fire, the charging handle will either severely cut your cheek or break your Jaw, depending on how hard you're gripping the weapon.

not advisable.

Yea there is that.

Though isn't that a problem with the bullpup configuration in general? Or am I wrong?

the L85-series of weapons is one of the very few modern bullpup weapons that is badly designed enough not to be able to be at least configured to be fired from the left shoulder.

modern bullpup weapons are tending towards being 100% abidextrous like the FN F2000, the IWI Tavor and the Kel-Tec RFB.

older weapons like the FAMAS and the Steyer AUG can at least be configured to eject from the opposite side, allowing them to be used by left-handed shooters in their dominant hands.

I hope they include a fire mode selector for every weapon.

Many people don't see the importance in this, stating that you could just click the mouse button quickly for single shots. While this is true, it's not the most elegant solution, especially for high rpm weapons. I also think it promotes steady shooting and accuracy, over weapon spamming (spray & pray) as is clearly evidenced by the gameplay in BC2.

Also, the ability to lean would be nice too.

surely the games gonna run very very well on current cards as its being developed using current cards
all this fuss over will it run
