Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

^^ Even if they end up patching it and eventually getting it all working right its the last EA/Dice game I'll be buying.

We will perform a short maintenance of the Battlefield 4 backend service between 10:00 and 11:00 CET tomorrow, November 5th. You may experience a game disconnect during this period
Ooooh, more fixing....

Well i just unparked my cores, lets see if it makes a difference....

I've stopped all the sound cutting out and most of the client crashes now, still happens from time to time but nowhere near as much.

Sound: Within the C:\Documents\Battlefield 3\Settings\PROF_SAVE_profile .txt document that everyone should have, there is an option at the very top called GstAudio.AudioQuality. This is, as I have found, an independent variable outside of the normal HI-FI, War Tapes, Headphones, etc options that are available to us. It was defaulted to 0, and I changed this to 4. Instantly, all my sound glitches are COMPLETELY gone, and I am enjoying this game immensely now.

Crashes (for me): Right click BF4 in Origin and go to Game Properties and on the "When launching game" drop down menu choose x64. That has stopped a lot of crashing as it seems that it may at times not use the x64 client.

BF3 ??

Well this is a bloody coincidence... I go on and get 16-0 in less than 5 minutes.

ERROR
Game disconnected: you have been banned from this server. Stated reason: Making Room for Members

I don't have the game and only played BF3 on my PS3 but why can't DICE/EA implement code so that admins can only kick before a game starts or has ended, not during it? So there might be someone just standing there for one round, the chances are this would be the minority and most are genuinely trying to play the game properly.

Fortunately admin kicking on the PS3 whilst annoying was quite rare.

Good idea. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't think server owners should be able to just kick and ban people freely at their hearts content. As players are playing for stats it shouldn't be allowed that an Admin can kick somebody just because that person is making their life difficult.

Surely an admin clearing out the opposition to make their lives easier amounts to stats fixing.

Tonight has been the worst night for me since the game launched. So many connection issues, crashes and unplayable lag. I didn't think it had been that bad until tonight, absolutely shocking they release a game like this. Greedy *******s.

Tonight has been a lot more stable for me (no server disconnects).

Unfortunately that's given me time on the maps i've yet to play, most of them are crap.

I used to enjoy Rush in BC2/BF3 and hardly touched conquest but rush in this is awful, played one map where the first round starts on a half broken ship, wtf were they thinking.

Just had a round with Nexus and Wes of here, (few other ocuk members too). Ran fine but my performance in game was woeful. I seem to attract tank shells in abundance.:D

plenty of people crying about fairfight on the official forums, seems it can ban you for being too good ! ;)

You mean the nM guy, he has been suspected as a dodgy person (wanted to use stronger word there) for ages. He can't TV for shizzle but is laser accurate with the main gun all the way across the map, so accurate he shoots out pilot / gunner from US base to RU base most times. Most comeptitive US teams wouldn't play against them in BF3 as they all knew he was dodgy.

Fairfight is stupid and bad - theres no way it can do anything more than indicate a likely cheater and even thats not very reliable.

Didn't realise we had so many people on this forum with in depth knowledge of fairfight. It actually looks like a really great system of catching hackers. Sabz was on TS with a few of us on level when the beta came out and she indicated at the time part of the system it uses is similar to the cheat-O-meter / i-stats / cheatometer.hedix websites. As in at least part of it checks your in game stats. For those who admined BF3 server, they would know that these were by far the best tools for catching clever cheats. Pbvious cheats are never the issue, it's the little fudgers with their damage mods / no recoil / no spread hacks that are the worst.

Prior to PB being implemented in Quake 3 I was involved in the development of an alternative anti-cheat system that used pretty much the same algorithms as fairfight - it may even be built from an updated version of that software.

EDIT: As a tool for an admin to use its potentially useful but it needs an admin that actually know how to interpret and use the data as part of their own investigation - it should never ever be used to auto ban or as sole reason for banning.

I'm going to wake up tomorrow and find I've covered my walls in paint in the night, writing this over and over and over again in my sleep..

Perhaps it's coincidental but I read the forums regarding crashing when spawning and it seems it only occurs when you double click a spawn point or squad member. To work around it just click once where you want to spawn and once more on the deploy button. Since doing this I haven't crashed once, so fingers crossed. :)

Less crashes for me today, not 1 in fact. Really like Parcel Storm, Lancang Dam and Zavod 311. Not tried all the maps yet

No crashes here either. Bit of lag depending on server location. My connection is pretty poor at times. But when i get onto a good server the game runs really well.

I only really seem to crash on 64 player servers. It's me crashing out, not the server. I freeze and get a recurring echo of the last sound until I crtrl-alt-del out.
Anyone else getting this? Drivers are up to date but using on board sound.
