I guess the navy felt left out. its always US Marines or the Airforce saving the planet...
Its better than Battle LA or whatever that **** was called. That isn't hard to achieve.
Cliché upon Cliché soaked in Cliché for All American moron market.
Love the Pearl Harbour/Japanese(china for the yanks) atonement vibes and those Funky war Vets. Jesus seriously i lol'd
And as if an Iowa class battleship isn't still a formidable bit of military hardware to blow up a bit of Hawaii and space.
As mentioned before switch your brain off and for the love of god hum the star spangled banner during the action bits.
edit: No just don't watch it, puke in a bowl and spend 2h looking through it for carrots.

Just go to watch for the special effects and battles that it is what I did!, how people are rating this movie like 3/10 is beggars believe.

Watched this yesterday and really enjoyed it. 8/10
The anchor and reverse bit was iffy but everything else was a good blast.
I think you either like this type of film ID, Battle Los Angeles .... or you don't.
Makes me laugh when you get a film critic slating it. Then going onto say some silent black and white film is the best thing since slice bread.... ummmm..

I've not seen this movie, but I do despair when film makers have such a high budget to create pretty much anything they want and then they come out with something that requires no brain and merely is a display of special FX.
There is no excuse for producing an action film with a poor/incoherent story.

Finally got around to watching this film.
Good points:
SFX, Brooklyn Decker, the working in of the boardgame concept
Bad points:
Plot (?), Taylor Kitsch, underused Liam Neeson, Rihanna (WTF?!), the veterans in their "cool as ****" poses on the Mo.
Overall - fun, but I don't think I'll be rushing to watch it again.
Good points:

The Aliens were going to make contact back home so they could make a full scale invasion.

Well, we can only assume that. Certainly seemed plausible, but it wasn't like the americans or the aliens spoke... (possibly for the best
)But the only people that said they were going to invade were the humans. After being the first to shoot at the aliens.
We contacted them on their home world and they come to visit. On the way down one of them crashes into a satellite and needs help.
Once they land our ships communicate by blowing a horn, the aliens do the same in response only a lot louder. We then respond to this by shooting at them. For responding with the same communication method?
The aliens then only attack anything that threatens them first.
Why would the aliens need to contact their homeworld to invade, we contacted them first. And how do you know the communication was regarding an invasion, mabey they were just calling for help for their crashed mate?
