Battlestar Galactica (now containing quite minor spoilers)

I've watched BSG through twice - the first, I came in while season 5 was airing IIRC. The second time, I acquired it on blu-ray.

This is where the intelligence of this show shines though - watching it a second time was just as interesting and gripping as the first, and there can't have been more than a year between watching it each time.

I honestly can't say there is another TV show that I could watch 6 series back again and be so utterly enthralled in it again. I'd love to try it with Lost, and I think I'd enjoy 24 for the action, but the fact neither happened through the summer TV dry-spell, says a lot.

I didn't mind Caprica too much, I think most of it's problem was that it was too damned slow, which is a shame as the super condensed last episode (or maybe two?) was fantastic in terms of story.

My question is, what can fill the void left by BSG? SGU did OK for a while, but now there really doesn't seem to be anything?

Re-runs of Voyager?

It's a shame we can't have a pre-war Pegasus spin off with Admiral Cain going on random adventures shooting space pirates and unarmed civilians for lolz. Minimal politics just Viper squadrons and gun battery barrages.

So, in english?
Ive got all 4 seasons, the mini-series, The razor one, and the Plan

Oh hang on, it's not those Webisodes is it?

At the end of it all, Bobby Ewing wakes up in the shower and it was all a dream, if that is where you have seen up to then you have all the series already and Admiral Adama was really J.R. Ewing................

S5 = S4.5 , offically its season 5, to fans its 4.5
What? No. It's the second half of season four. A mid season break is very common. It doesn't mean it's two seasons.

Not even the wikipedia entry has the second half of season 4 as the 5th season.

wut:confused:

offically its season 5, the company markets it as SEASON 5, read what I said please.

and it wasnt a mid season break , it was a writers strike that lasted a year!

season 4: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=11P7MN7Z5A5JNCEAWBPZ
season 5: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battlestar-Galactica-Final-Season-DVD/dp/B001Q3KA64

If people are buying BSG now, they have to pick up 2 boxed sets to finish the story not one and they are distinctly named different things.

This man is telling the truth. The writer's strike screwed up the series.

The last season has never been called season 5 its "The final season".. It was only ever called season 5 if you downloaded the xvid files.
My Blu-ray boxset lists it as the final season and so does the wiki... ?

It also seems the new BSG Blood & Chrome is going to be webisodes only. This is a shame as a series about Adama as "Husker" would have been quite good..

apples and oranges. cant say i have ever downloaded the xvid files (whatever they are)

the point is that the final 10 episodes of BSG are labelled as an entiely different season when purchasing them. Why? well because by the time it had aired a year had past and its not PC to carry on a season number when such a big gap has occured.
yes most people will see it as 4.5 or whatever - but newcomers that didnt follow it on tv will be non the wiser.

the same happened to the final season of the sopranos.
dunno why were arguing about it lol, as it really does boil down to how people first followed the show.

The production codes are unbroken. It goes from 411 to 412, meaning it's a continuation of season four. If it were season five it'd jump for 411 to 501. But it doesn't.

It was still a break, regardless of what kind of break it was. I didn't say it was a mid season break, just that mid season breaks happen all the time. I inferred that this was something similar. Except it lasted longer. Obviously. Please read what I said.

The other half of the season is packaged in "complete series" as 4.5. "The final season" means literally nothing.

Yeah, there was a reason it was cancelled. Only worth watching the last episode for the last 5mins where they show you where season 2 was going to go. In fact i'm sure it's on You Tube somewhere

I don't get all the hate against Caprica. It's true that the acting and SGI was quite poor at times. It's worst crime was that at times in turned into a quasi rebellious teen drama. There are some fantastic moments in it though. It goes a long way to explaining the rise of the cyclons in society and how they were fundamentally flawed from the start. I'm surprised that a BSG fan does not enjoy the series for that alone. As a stand alone program it is a pile of poop though.
