Battlestar Galactica (now containing quite minor spoilers)

I don't get all the hate against Caprica. It's true that the acting and SGI was quite poor at times. It's worst crime was that at times in turned into a quasi rebellious teen drama. There are some fantastic moments in it though. It goes a long way to explaining the rise of the cyclons in society and how they were fundamentally flawed from the start. I'm surprised that a BSG fan does not enjoy the series for that alone. As a stand alone program it is a pile of poop though.

The problem is that it was aimed at a niche audience of a niche show that was part of a niche genre. It's hardly surprising it didn't get any viewers. BSG had drama AND action and it did well because of it, it wasn't just nerd shooty shooty and flux capacitors and it wasn't just hippies talking about love and feelings and stuff. It combined both and people expected more of the same with the spinoff show and it didn't deliver as expected.

If they made a Rambo with 90% less action and filled it with teen angst, betrayal, robots and religious nutjobs it too would get hate, regardless of what it could have been or what some people got from it.

Oh man. I freaking love BSG!

When it was on it was easily my favorite show on TV. Used to have people tell me they would never watch it coz it was "Sci-Fi" and they hated Star Trek and they would hate this.

Let them watch a few episodes and they got hooked! Easily one of the best shows on our screens in recent times. Caprica was a major let down when you compare it to BSG. Yes it fills in some story (which is nice) but I did not enjoy it really.

Just started on season three, not sure how I feel about the massive change...perhaps at the time of airing it was something that the producers / writers felt necessary, but from the point of view of somebody thats been watching them back to back it feels a bit jarring. Ive only watched two and understand that it apparently switches back soon? Will obviously keep watching of course.

Caprica was quite lacking but it does give a nice insight into some of the motivations, culture, etc. behind some of the stuff in BSG even tho not directly related - IMO if you stop watching BSG at the season break in Season 4, watch Caprica and then go back to season 4 the last half has far more substance as you can understand better why people do some of the things they do, etc. and changes your perspective on some stuff thats far less black and white than if you just watch BSG alone.

Started re-watching this the other month, on the last episode of season 2. Forgot how awesome this show is.

Can only agree that BSG is possibly the best TV show ever made. I actually really liked the last episode. I don't get why lots of people call it a "cop-out"

Only slight niggle for me.....CG Centurians.....didn't quite work for me. I would rather of had men in suits, but then I'm old-school :)

Just picked up the whole series (not the box set but individually) for £42.05, cant wait to watch them all again as first time round I thought it was an excellent show.

Just watched the last episode now

Wow.

Just wow.

Perfect way to end the best show I have ever watched. I could not have imagined a better way of wrapping things up.

Wow!

I just want to keep saying "wow" I'm just gob smacked! The final series was perfectly paced and everything was revealed with perfect timing.

Wow.

Just wish I could forget it all and watch it all through again.

Wow!

yeah i have to agree, apart from BSG being my all time sci-fi fav.

it has the best ending to any sci-fi show ever, i cant recall any other show that leaves you satisfied with what you have just watched. stargate comes to mind...10 seasons for "ok" tele and then the end is just dribble.

^ i suggest you do watch it all again, at some point there are loads of things you miss first time through when you know whats going on :)

Part way into season 4 and I can't remember who number 5 turns out to be. I remembered the other 4 but at least this makes it like I'm watching it for the first time again.

I love the reveal episode, the music matched it brilliantly.

Always happy to see this threat on the first page!

Also a great show for using so many actual sets instead of just green screens. Everything felt so real.
