Battlestar Galactica (now containing quite minor spoilers)

It took this long for you to realise this? :p There was never even a 1% chance Caprica would hold a candle to BSG.

Just got finished with watching this again on blu-ray over the holidays. I think it really benefited from the HD picture and the sound was superb.

Pity the ending was still weak.

I watched BSG and The Wire pretty much back to back. Nothing has come close since.

+1

BSG ending was pretty emotional, the thought of no more episodes - sad times! :(:o

I am currently watching Stargate SG1 back to back and it's filling the void somewhat for my Sci-Fi needs.

Really into it now!

Why do you think it was weak?

For me it was perfect, wrapped everything neatly but still leaving the odd little things out for you to consider. I honestly cannot recall an ending to another series that has been so perfect.

the ending was great, did the job - it was always going to be the case they found earth it was just in what timeline they found it. Some people wanted the future (me) but it ended up being the past - im happy either way and they wrapped it nicely around the whole religion/journey ideas.

Roslins inevitable death was very sad :(

I just hope now that they figure out whats going on with Blood and Chrome and finally finish post production and release it but it looks like it needs loads of work still and we wont see anything until 2013

I did love this series, one of my favourites. I don't remember the ending but I do remember feeling fairly underwhelmed by it.

It was, yes. It's very rare that I actually feel attached enough to a TV character that a death upsets me, but that was one of them. Films manage it more often, but TV is very rare.

The Wire had a couple of upsetting deaths as well:

Bodie's death upset me, because it was so sudden and it came just as he was trying to do the right thing.

It certianly wasn't epic with a billion space battles but the space battle they did have was great and they rounded things off at a nice gentle pace slowly letting the characters go and giving you some real closure on each one. This was a great change to most serious that do a frenetic finish and hardly finish things off.

I loved the series and it was nice to see the characters one last time and see how things ended for them, was rather emotional and almost felt like saying goodbye to them all :o:o:o

It wrapped it all up a little too neatly for my liking.

The whole show had been about cliffhangers and "what if's" and then in the last episode they had found exactly what they were looking for and lived happily ever after.

They packed everyone off with little more than a cheerio and no one really questioned whether these small groups likely destined never to see eachother was even a good idea.

Its not the outcome I felt was poor. They were always going to find earth and the little twist about when was a nice touch. But the implementation was poor and felt rushed. They spent ages (a whole series?) on New Caprica arguing/fighting/surviving and yet when they finally find earth its done and dusted in one episode. Needed at least a few episodes there.

The most emotive part of the entire series for me was when Caly was flushed out of the airlock. I was litterally raging at the screen and never has any TV show or film left quite such an impact. Roslins death and Starbuck's "dissapearence" paled in comparison.

Just my 2p. I thought the series as a whole was fantastic but the ending just needed fleshed out a bit.

See my previous post in this thread for my favourite series finale of all time ;)

Where did you get Caprica on blu-ray???

They only released it on Blu-Ray in France, the UK and the USA only get it on DVD. Don't ask me why! So I imported it from www.amazon.fr.

The disc menus are in French, but they're not exactly hard to navigate. The audio is in both English and French (select which track - like how you can normally select other languages and directors commentary) and the subtitles are also available in both languages.

Obviously region is fine, as both UK & France are Europe B. Some American's have problems playing it as it's in 1080i/50 and not all USA Blu-Ray players doesn't support it, but we're PAL in the UK so it's fine :).

See http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=20511467&postcount=93 (before I bought it), and http://forum.blu-ray.com/france/178727-caprica-entire-series-october-25-2011-a.html. A few Americans on Blu-Ray forums have done group buys to save postage, but postage for us isn't expensive (the postmark on my package was actually the same as amazon.co.uk orders so it's the same warehouse!)

Just started season 2 last night, really enjoyed season one despite finding 8 out of 10 characters unlike able so I don't care about them living or dieing.

Only really like Apollo, boomer and the chief.

Not keen on the pregnant bit. Starbuck is some truly dreadful casting. Wonderful series though on the whole.

Wtf though do they feel the need to have episode spoilers in the intro of each episode? I have to look away at the start.

I am also on season 2. Have forgotten a fair bit of the story, so quite enjoying it.
