Bayonetta

to be honest hack and slash games are pretty boring and repetitive

They are if you hack and slash, which entirely misses the point. They offer far more than just the spectacle of crazy fights vs. huge monsters - although that's a big part of the attraction - and have a considerable learning curve and great deal of depth. But yeah, you can button mash on easy settings if you choose :p

Famitsu’s awarded Bayonetta top marks, making it only the twelth game in the magazine’s entire history to get 40/40.

And the others are:

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
2. Soulcalibur (1999)
3. Vagrant Story (2000)
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003)
5. Nintendogs (2005)
6. Final Fantasy XII (2006)
7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)
8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008)
9. 428 (2008)
10. Dragon Quest IX (2009)
11. Monster Hunter Tri (2009)

Just to add to this, it is ONLY the Xbox 360 version that got the full 40/40 marks, whereas the PS3 version only got 38/40.

So even though it is a multi-platform game, looks like it is the first 360 game to get top marks for Famitsu.

That is an awful clone (i'm not saying its a bad game) but the gameplay, hud, etc seems to have been ripped straight from DMC barely changed.

I love Hack and Slash

tbh I love most games that have arcade style point systems & combo systems. cant say I loved DMC4 but it was enough for me to actually buy my 360 and convert back to consoles!

I'll definitely be picking this up, but not at release.

visually looks stunning @ 60fps.

May be a rip-off, but at least it is another game in this style of genre which for me isn't a bad thing. I mean it's like saying how most FPS games are pretty much almost the same anyways.
