The BBC are considering dropping commentator Jonathan Legard, according to reports.

The Daily Mail describes, rather generously, the partnership of Legard and Martin Brundle as 'failing to gel to the extent that doubts are being expressed by the Corporation's top brass as to whether Legard's contract will be renewed next season.

'Brundle is the most influential member of the F1 set-up and is known to favour working with another commentator. Aussie Charlie Cox, who does MotoGP for the Beeb, is being mooted as a possible replacement for the popular Legard.'

Please.god.yes.

Me too, now he doesn't have MS's backside to suck, Allen would be ok. I'd love to hear Allen say, My god MS is slow now, I'd have him back just the once to hear him have to utter those words after years of having to listen to him ejaculate all over him.

It's a shame David Croft is tied to 5Live, as he should replace Legard IMO.

I would think Crofty coming in would be the natural choice, As he already does the whole F1 thing on BBC, Charlie does MotoGP.

Good choice by the beeb if it is indeed true, Even better if they replace him with Crofty. He does a pretty good job on the radio side of things with Anthony Davidson/Maurice Hamilton and lately with Chandhok

I don't want James Allen personally, After years of listening to his crap on ITV. Although he seems to have changed from those days, I believe he works with another broadcaster and does his thing on his webpage too, Which i may add is quite good!

Please, please let it be true. Davidson for preference.

I would think beeb would want a lead guy, Someone who will do most of the work, Brundle does the whole "technical" talk and comes in whenever Legard manages to close his mouth.

Davidson=Brundle, Similar sort of style.

imo we should get the american SPEED coverage.

Brundell annoys me just as much as legard.

No idea what SPEED coverage is but I agree on the next bit, I have Brundell just as much as Legard, for an ex driver Brundell seems to be minutes behind working out whats going on, gets lots and lots of crap wrong and I utterly dispise his attitude, okay its a little funny if he pushes someone out of the way on the grid, but I find the whole grid walk generally just embarassing TV and he goes down on the grid like he's a world class reporter who should get in first, largely because he used to be a driver where others weren't, yes, but he was a crap driver.

I just hate the guy, Legard is just on another level of retarded than Brundell though and I can't stand the guy at all. Murray was often a little out of the loop but he was hilarious and was a bottomless pit of knowledge on motorsport, Legard is just a ****.

I'd take anyone over Legard and I've take a lot of other people over Brundell, who seems to think because he drove, badly, a LONG time ago he's above everyone else.

its brundle... i thought you meant blundell for a minute there who had classic moments

* On Honda's new-for-2007 'Earth car': "They've got a new image. They've got everything that they're moving into in a different way - whole new process - but what they've got to be careful of is they don't lead the way on the track, that they're leaving behind technology and performance where they really are frustration there, because Button and Barrichello, they're scratching their heads already at the first race and that's not what they want."
* On Lewis Hamilton's fear of Alonso: "He hasn't got no regard for him, whatsoever."
* Mark's view on the conditions in Malaysia, 2007: "It's just immensely humidity."
* On the temperature at the 2007 US Grand Prix: "It's as hot as what I've felt it here before."
* On Lewis Hamilton's performance at the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix: "Lewis just needs to go home and understand where he sits."
* On the standard of marshalling at the 2008 Bahrain Grand Prix: "Maybe those waved yellows should have been stagnant yellows"

lol bring him back :D

Legard needs to go back to radio, he didn't manage to change his ways when going on TV and still keeps repeating things we can see on screen.
