BBC iplayer, has it had its day.

I do, go and do your own research, it might wake you up a bit.
No, I asked you for the evidence as you seem to know the ins and outs. So please enlighten us to your insight and deep knowledge of the apparent shenanigans that the BBC get up to.

Also why are you so adamant people are waving flags? No one had said that. Believing things that aren't there? Seems to a theme developing here.

P.S for the record, I don't need to wake up. I couldn't care less about the BBC. I just find topics like this amusing :-)

LOL tory drones were afraid to appear for interview on r4 today for a year was it - the interviewers were very bad men. ...

I think the BBC & Queen have more to fear from C4 - if you saw their alternative jubilee drag item a couple of days back ... and they are, now, first up against the wall.

Some of the recent David Attenborough shows have been in 4k HDR. There have also been some sporting events in 4k HDR. I assume you need a TV that supports the HLG form of HDR to watch it though.

Which is effectively a test broadcast, they similar with Planet Earth when HD launched in the mid 00s. As related to the OP, using an Attenborough doc to declare iPlayer is "dead in the water" is a bit wide of the mark.

What's that got to do with the iPlayer? Go post it in one of the Speakers Corner threads...

It's purpose is to ensure the status quo, it is a propaganda outlet for the tories and royals. They have spent the last 10 years bending over backwards for the tories, and after all that they're going to end the licence fee anyway. I mean it hardly needs stating that they've always brown-nosed the windsors, sorry saxe-coburgs.

Don't do drugs kids

Roku app's been providing HLG 4k versions of attenborough and doctor who ... what more does the average woke viewer need to be happy....

maybe they will deliver some 4k/hld coverage of the upcoming commonwealth games or world cup
... be it due to covid ? that was a disappointment from both the winter and summer olympics, where even the americans/nbc too, had negligible 4k material.
commonwealth doesn't really have a quorate set of athletes though.
the bbc recorded the 2012 Olympics in 4k, they made a big thing about it being a test, it was even a partnership with nhk (japanese state broadcaster) showing what could be done then, now we are a decade later and still only limited 4k viewing options from the supposed national broadcaster.

but the iplayer website is what i dont get, with all the 4k content they have and they must be recording at least in 1080 for everything they shoot now why is it still so poor, as i said the youtube channel is just as bad if not worse with 1080/24 and 720/50, because god only knows why. its like they are either paranoid over someone stealing high quality content (which they dont sell) or have some strange view that because its not black and white 320p its good quality.

as for the idiocy being posted, go take it to general discussion or the onion will you.

or the onion will you
Whoa whoa whoa. No need to get nasty.

I imagine bbc think that the content speaks for itself and that 1080 or 4k viewing, doesn't make a difference if the content is worth it.

I have the same view, just that the content on BBC isn't worth it.

With that said, Attenborough is one of the few things that should be 4k

How can it have had its day its not like it ever really one to start with? As a piece of tech its easily the best of the terrestrial TV channels streaming service ITV and CH4 and 5 being basically nothing more than a collection of "greatest hits" shows or what they think are and the ability to press green to watch a programme from the start if you've missed half of it is genius. The iPlayer's menus though annoys me in that it tries to push on me what it thinks I want to watch or rather what it thinks I ought to watch when what I actually want to watch is something else entirely, trying to find the actual schedule of programmes is more annoying and requires more far presses on the remote than it should do.

As for the actual BBC content itself, well thats for another thread.

yes the itv/ch4/5 apps are clunky and seem slow to respond on roku(4k stick) the unskippable adverts,
all of these apps without a keyboard via tv feel pedestrian versus laptop with a keyboard - novelty of voice control like alexa escapes me,
if you could find program on laptop and cast to a screen that would be my idea.

haven't noticed bbc making suggestions to me, but don't use netflix where I believe that is rife, I like some music suggestions on music streaming, but for films/shows quantity of content is much lower so you pretty much know already of anything to your taste.

i think a few (and probably my fault) getting mixed up, im talking about the iplayer online not the tv app, the apps bad agreed, but the online website one you use through you're pc.

and yes itv c4 and the rest of them are horrendous, extremely poor quality and adverts everywhere let alone the clunky feel of them all.

but as i was saying about quality, take topgear whether you like it or not it should be in 4k to show off the cars, but no, cant do that. meanwhile on youtube you have free content being put out by guys in 4k even real car people. jonny smith for example, formally of fifth gear doing stuff.

Top Gear isn't filmed or broadcast in 4K. So what's your point?

So how does that relate to the iPlayer being "dead in the water"?
because it is ? its like the bbc has gotten it to where it is and said "right it works, that will do"

as for topgear not being filmed in 4k id say thats wrong as they have 4k content on youtube. so they have the equipment so must be down to the bbc not wanting 4k content then im guessing, again to say its the national broadcaster which we pay for its rather poor.
